As a Compliance Manager you'll oversee compliance risk management activities related to the bank's residential mortgage lending operations. This role indirectly oversees other compliance professionals, collaborates with first, second, and third line of defense departments partners with business lines to ensure compliance with applicable federal and state mortgage laws and regulations. The Compliance Manager serves as a trusted advisor to the business, providing regulatory guidance, conducting compliance assessments, supporting issue management and regulatory change initiatives, and evaluating the effectiveness of controls designed to mitigate compliance risk.This position operates within the Second Line of Defense (2LOD) Compliance function and helps ensure the organization maintains a strong compliance management system (CMS) aligned with regulatory expectations and organizational risk appetite.
- Provide guidance and advice across all lines of defense regarding the applicability and impact of regulations, regulations pertaining to residential mortgage lending and purchasing, including support for issue management, regulatory change assessments, document and vendor reviews and other relate.
- Support issue management activities, including issue identification, documentation, risk assessment, remediation planning, validation.
- Review the line of business policies, procedures, job aids, training materials and related documentation to evaluate alignment with applicable regulatory requirements, internal policies, and control expectation
- May lead and develop a team: responsible for hiring, coaching, performance management, training and development.
What you'll need:
- 7+ years of related experience in Regulatory Compliance, Risk Management, Internal Audit or similar field.
- Ability to assess compliance with applicable federal and state statutes (TILA, TRID, RESPA, ECOA, FCRA, HPA, FDPA, etc.), program specific requirements (ARM, DSCR, Interest Only, HELOC/HEL), and regulatory requirements circulated by agencies including FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, USDA, and CFPB
- Bachelor's degree in related field required.
- Previous leadership experience preferred.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of mortgage lending compliance and operations, including issue management, regulatory change management, and document review activities applicable to residential retail and correspondent mortgage lending. Wholesale lending is a plus.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of applicable regulatory and legal compliance obligations, rules and regulations, industry standards and practices.
- Intermediate to advanced experience and skills in effectively communicating (verbal and written) risk assessment results to a diverse audience.
- Ability to work with all levels of management with a focus on collaboration and relationship management.
- Advanced speaking and writing communication skills.
- Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager preferred.
- Occasional travel possible.
