The internship is designed to provide hands-on exposure to precision manufacturing operations, specifically slider processing and HGA (Head Gimbal Assembly) assembly within the storage technology industry.\nInterns will be embedded in the Engineering organization and assigned a dedicated buddy/mentor. The internship is structured with clear deliverables, a mid-point check-in, and a final project presentation.\nHigh-performing interns will be considered for conversion to the ECT -- under the BEST Program.\nKey responsibilities include:\nSupporting day-to-day engineering activities in assigned function area\nAssisting in data collection, process monitoring, and documentation\nContributing to a defined internship project with measurable output\nAttending structured learning sessions and technical orientations\nCompleting mid-point and end-of-internship assessments\nPresenting internship project findings to team and mentor at program close\nREQUIRED:\nCurrently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related field.\nMinimum 3rd-year standing; rising seniors are preferred.\nIn good academic standing.\nAvailable for a 3-6-month full-time or part-time internship.\nThe internship is intended for students whose academic program requires or allows an internship for academic credit.\nPREFERRED:\nPrior internship, laboratory, or hands-on experience in engineering or manufacturing.\nExposure to quality tools, process documentation, or engineering drawings.\nBasic data analysis skills, including Excel and basic statistics.\nStrong academic performance in technical subjects.\nSKILLS\nEagerness to learn and develop skills in a manufacturing environment.\nStrong analytical thinking and attention to detail.\nGood communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.\nProficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.\nReliable, punctual, and committed to completing the internship duration.\nStrong written and verbal English communication skills.\nTARGET ONBOARDING DATES:\nCandidates should be available to start their internship on one of the following target dates:\nSeptember 14-15, 2026\nNovember 16, 2026\nJanuary 11-12, 2027\nApril 1, 2027\nWD thrives on the power and potential of diversity.
