Together, we can build the future of data storage.\n ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:\nDevelop Post Sputter Engineering processes, with a focus on lubrication and tape polish.\nQualify new processes by conducting evaluations, collecting data, and interpreting results using statistical tools.\nParticipate in and lead Post Sputter Engineering activities within New Product Introduction (NPI) task forces.\nCoordinate New Product Introduction (NPI) runs in the post-sputter process area.\nDocument processes, procedures, and best practices.\nUse tools such as Minitab and Spotfire to support data-driven decision-making.\nParticipate in and lead FMEA, Process Verification, and IMS activities related to post-sputter processes.\nCollaborate with Maintenance Engineering, QA, Analytics, and other teams to drive process improvements.\nThis position is part of our Early Career program at WD. Our Early Career program is designed to support individuals beginning their professional career by providing the foundational training through a structured onboarding, mentorship, and development curriculum.\n REQUIRED:\nDegree in Materials Science, Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Applied Science, or a related field.\nPREFERRED:\nHands-on experience with XPS, ToF-SIMS, AFM, Raman spectroscopy, and ellipsometry, with the ability to independently interpret spectra and develop film property models from raw data.\nSKILLS\nProficient in applying analytics and AI models to develop new processes.\nAble to communicate effectively in written and spoken English, as the role requires collaboration with cross-site teams in the US and China.\nWD thrives on the power and potential of diversity.
