Job Description

The IAR Data Analyst is responsible for extracting, processing, analyzing, and reporting on data to produce rigorous, actionable insights and research. They establish and maintain strong relationships with peers and leaders across IAR, Data Engineering, Product Management, Finance, EdTech, and Faculty staff. They perform ad hoc analyses, build standard reports and data visualizations, and deliver information and insights through various methods and media that privilege data storytelling and compress time-to-action.

As a Data Analyst, you will transform complex data into actionable insights that support program development, student engagement, and marketing effectiveness. Working cross-functionally with stakeholders across Program Development, Product, Decision Intelligence, Marketing, and Data Engineering, you will help drive meaningful outcomes through data-driven decision-making.

What You'll Do

• Analyze large datasets to uncover trends and deliver actionable insights that inform program development, student engagement strategies, and marketing initiatives.
• Build, maintain, and enhance dashboards and data visualizations, including consolidating and improving existing reporting assets.
• Translate stakeholder needs and ambiguous business questions into technical requirements and data-driven solutions.
• Partner with Data Engineering to support ETL and data pipeline development while ensuring data quality and reliability.
• Perform ad hoc analyses and communicate findings through compelling data storytelling and recommendations.
• Apply descriptive statistics, translate ambiguous business questions into structured analytical approaches, identify root causes and performance drivers, and develop actionable recommendations and analytical techniques to identify patterns, trends, and opportunities for improvement.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Program Development, Product, Marketing, and Decision Intelligence to support strategic initiatives and drive business impact.
• Analyze customer journeys, marketing funnels, audience segments, and channel performance to identify drivers of acquisition, engagement, conversion, and downstream outcomes.

What You'll Bring

• Bachelor's degree in a related discipline.
• 3 years of related experience in Data Analysis, Business Intelligence, Data Science, Statistics, Decision Intelligence, Research, Learning Science, Behavioral/Cognitive Psychology, Marketing Analytics, or Digital Analytics.
• Strong SQL skills and experience querying large datasets.
• Experience with Tableau or Power BI for data visualization.
• Experience working with ETL or ELT processes and data pipelines.
• Solid working knowledge of descriptive statistics and analytical methods, with the ability to apply them to real-world datasets
• Ability to apply sound judgment and analytical thinking to identify root causes of data issues and inform recommendations.

Bonus Points

• Experience working with large-scale datasets containing millions of records.
• Familiarity with Databricks or similar data platforms.
• Proficiency in a programming language such as Python or R, experience with GitHub and analytics documentation standards, and experience contributing to dashboard optimization or consolidation projects.
• Experience with marketing, digital, or customer journey analytics, preferably with hands-on experience for Adobe Analytics and/or Adobe Customer Journey Analytics or other related platforms.
• Experience with marketing funnel measurement, attribution modeling, channel performance analysis, customer segmentation, and marketing experimentation and testing.
• Ability to translate ambiguous business problems into scalable technical and analytical solutions.
• Experience applying root cause analysis and diagnostic methodologies to identify drivers of business performance and data issues.
• Experience producing AI-assisted analytics, including leveraging AI-enabled tools and technologies to accelerate analysis, generate insights, enhance reporting, and support data-driven decision-making.

Work Location

This is a full-time, in-office position requiring five days per week in our Salt Lake City, UT office, designed to foster the collaboration and connection that fuel our best work.

Travel Requirement

This position requires occasional travel of up to 20%, including required attendance at designated company summits (typically one to two per year). Additional travel may include conferences, visits to company locations, and other business-related events as needed. Additional travel may be assigned as needed to support business requirements.
