Non tenure track. The position is being filled through an emergency appointment. Appointment to the role on a permanent basis is contingent upon meeting additional recruitment requirements.\nWestern Nevada College (WNC) is expanding its Nursing Program to serve communities across its service region, as well as evolving its existing curriculum to meet the changing healthcare and educational environment. These initiatives offer faculty the opportunity to help shape and deliver innovative, responsive nursing education. Faculty in this position will support instruction across multiple sites, including rural locations, and contribute to ongoing curriculum development and adaptation. Teaching assignments, modalities, and primary work locations are based on program needs and are subject to change over time. Faculty may be reassigned or relocated within the service region. Flexibility in work location and teaching assignments is a requirement of this position.\nDuties and Responsibilities:\nAssume a leadership role in the delivery of the medical/surgical nursing curriculum in the classroom, laboratory and clinical environments \nCollaborate with other nursing faculty in the instruction of medical/surgical and other related nursing content \nPrepare and present lecture/discussion and laboratory learning experiences which incorporate active and alternative teaching methodologies \nParticipate in traditional and/or non-traditional classroom/laboratory settings and web-based courses as assigned; work with current faculty to utilize simulation learning and evaluation activities \nPerform at a level that reflects scholarship and evidence-based teaching and clinical practices \nCorrect assignments, quizzes, examinations and care plans in a timely manner, using the agreed-upon grading policy \nEducate and supervise students in laboratory and clinical settings (days, evenings, nights and weekends) in Carson City, Reno, and rural sites as assigned \nParticipate in nursing faculty committee meetings, college-wide/departmental meetings and professional development activities \nComplete tasks in a timely manner and be self-directed after initial orientation to assignments \nMaintain professional performance that reflects scholarship and evidence-based teaching and clinical practices \nParticipate in community service activities \nParticipate in program review and academic program assessment \nPerform all responsibilities set forth in Board of Regents Handbook. Title 2, Chapter 4, Section 4.4.2., Standards for Recommending Appointment with Tenure \nPerform safely in a latex environment \nParticipate in maintaining an environment of civility and non-discrimination \nComply with published college and program policies and procedures \nPerform other duties as assigned \nMinimum Qualifications:\nA minimum of a Master‘s degree in nursing (MSN) from a regionally accredited college or university; AND a minimum of four years of clinical experiences in an acute care setting. A combination of academic teaching and clinic practice experience may be substituted for the years of experience requirement, OR \nA Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) from a regionally accredited college or university and current enrollment in a Master's of Nursing (MSN) program from a regionally accredited college or university with demonstration of satisfactory academic progress; AND a minimum of six years of clinical experience in an acute care setting. A combination of academic teaching and clinic practice experience may be substituted for the years of experience requirement. NOTE: Employment for candidates holding a Bachelor’s degree (BSN) is contingent on approval by the Nevada Board of Nursing. Approval will be sought by Western Nevada College;\nCompetency in current medical/surgical nursing practice required. The salary grade is based on the selected candidate's level of academic preparation: COMMUNITY COLLEGE ACADEMIC SALARY GRADES. The selected candidate will be placed at or above the minimum based on years of related, professional experience.
