The FIU plays a critical role in identifying, escalating, and mitigating money laundering and terrorist financing risks, ensuring regulatory compliance, and protecting the integrity of Western Union’s global financial network. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of data analytics and financial crime compliance, driving innovation and enhancing Western Union’s ability to combat financial crime worldwide.\nRole Responsibilities\nAnalysis, design, development, testing, and documentation of automated data extracts and other key data-centric and system-related projects.\nDevelop ad-hoc queries to provide data insights for FIU investigations and build data visualizations to support analyses.\nEnhance and improve investigative tools, analytical dashboards, and automated reporting to optimize efficiency.\nCollaborate with teams across Western Union’s FIU and Global Compliance to enhance communication and workflow.\nMaintain accurate documentation for all data-related procedures and recommend improvements.\nEnsure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.\nTake ownership of quality and timely delivery of assigned projects and reports.\nApply a continuous improvement mindset, optimizing resources and operational efficiency.\nEnsure that data-driven insights positively impact customer experience and internal operations.\nRole Requirements\nBachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Economics, Software Engineering, and IT is preferred but equivalent job experience of at least 2 years will be considered.\nProficiency in querying relational databases (e.g., Snowflake, SQL, Hadoop) and automating processes using SQL or similar database query languages.\nStrong understanding of data types, joins, unions, aggregations, and case statements.\nExperience with data analysis and visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Qlik.\nKnowledge of Python and Power Automate, Power Apps, or SharePoint is a plus.\nAdvanced skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with Excel Macros/VBA is beneficial.\nStrong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.\nExcellent communication skills, being able to translate technical concepts into business insights for a diverse audience.\nAbility to work independently with a high degree of autonomy and provide leadership on key projects.\nA team player with strong collaboration skills and a positive, proactive mindset.\nExperience handling confidential and sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.\nFluency in English (written and verbal) is required.\nPrior experience in Compliance is a plus.\nStrong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.\nWork Shift\nWestern Union values in-person collaboration, problem solving, and ideation whenever possible. This range represents anticipated low and high end of the salary for this position.
