Leveraging cloud-native architectures, modern integration patterns, and AI-assisted engineering practices, you will define reusable solutions that accelerate partner onboarding, improve reliability and operational efficiency, and support business growth across the region. Fluency in both English and Spanish is essential to effectively collaborate with stakeholders and partners across NA and LACA.\nKey responsibilities include:\nLead the architecture, design, and delivery of scalable payment processor integrations across North America (NA) and Latin America & Caribbean (LACA). \nDefine and implement enterprise integration patterns, APIs, and reference architectures for rapid partner onboarding. \nPartner with business, product, operations, compliance, and external stakeholders to deliver integration solutions aligned with business objectives. \nServe as the technical lead for strategic payment processor, banking, and financial institution integrations. \nArchitect and develop AWS-based microservices using Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and cloud-native design principles. \nDesign secure, resilient, and highly available integration solutions leveraging event-driven architectures and Kafka-based messaging platforms. \nBuild solutions supporting payment processing, transaction routing, settlement, reconciliation, and partner enablement. \nEstablish reusable integration frameworks, API standards, and engineering best practices that improve delivery speed and scalability. \nCollaborate with external partners through solution design, certification, testing, implementation, and production rollout activities. \nDrive adoption of AI-assisted engineering tools to improve development productivity, testing, documentation, and operational excellence. \nReview architectures and code to ensure compliance with enterprise standards for security, scalability, reliability, and governance. \nLead modernization initiatives that transform legacy integration platforms into cloud-native, distributed solutions. \nMonitor and optimize platform performance, focusing on availability, latency, throughput, and operational efficiency. \nProvide technical leadership, mentorship, and architectural guidance across engineering teams and integration workstreams. \nAct as a trusted technical advisor for regional stakeholders and partners, leveraging fluency in English and Spanish to drive successful outcomes across NA and LACA.\nRole Requirements\nApplicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Western Union will not sponsor applicants for work visas for this position.\nBasic Qualifications\n8+ years of experience designing and delivering enterprise integration solutions, APIs, and partner onboarding platforms. \n5+ years of experience working with payment processors, financial institutions, banking integrations, remittance platforms, or payment networks. \n6+ years of experience developing Java applications using Spring Boot, REST APIs, and microservices architectures.\nExperience leading end-to-end integration programs, including solution design, certification testing, implementation, and production support. \nStrong understanding of API integration patterns, service orchestration, payment workflows, transaction processing, and distributed systems. \nProfessional proficiency in both English and Spanish, with the ability to lead technical discussions, architecture reviews, and stakeholder engagements across NA and LACA regions. \nExperience working directly with external partners, vendors, payment processors, or banking institutions.\n2+ years of hands-on experience using AI coding agents or AI-assisted software development tools to accelerate engineering productivity and software delivery.\nExperience collaborating with product, engineering, architecture, operations, risk, and compliance stakeholders in a large-scale enterprise environment.\nPreferred Qualifications\n3+ years of experience serving as a Solution Architect, Integration Architect, or Technical Lead for enterprise-scale integrations. \nExperience designing integration solutions for payment processors, card networks, banks, digital wallets, or remittance providers. \nExperience with ISO 8583, ISO 20022, payment messaging standards, or similar financial transaction protocols. \nExperience managing technical relationships with external partners across multiple countries and regulatory environments. \nExperience working within Payments, FinTech, Banking, Remittance, or other highly regulated industries. \nStrong understanding of regional payment ecosystems and regulatory considerations within North America and Latin America. \nFluent verbal and written communication skills in both Spanish and English (required). \nExperience driving technical strategy and influencing architecture decisions across multiple teams, regions, and business domains.\nWorkplace Option\nHYBRID - Western Union values in-person collaboration, problem solving, and ideation whenever possible.
