This role serves as a hands-on technical expert and service owner, partnering with distributed engineering teams to ensure reliability, performance, and architectural excellence.\nRole Responsibilities\nDevelop and implement new software,maintainand improve existing software\n\nEnsure that software functionality is implemented with a focus on code optimization and organization.\n\nBuild applications, workflowautomation’s, internal tools, and basic agents using AI coding agents within Western Union’s product and platform areas.\n\nRecommend improvements to existing software programs.\n\nTroubleshoot application issues and coordinate issue resolution with operations, functional, and technical teams.\n\nWork as service lead with development team across geographically distributed structure\n\nReview design and code from different scrum teams and ensure service level standards are enforced.\n\nResponsible formaintainingquality and engineering metrics of specific microservices as aservicesowner.\n\nProvide coaching to Junior engineers on the team.\n\nWorks independently on complex projects.\n\nAssess business needs while providing creative and effective solutions in conformance toemergingtechnology standards.\n\nPerformstrongdecision-making, communication, and collaboration skills.\n\nPerformcomputer science fundamentals, data structures, algorithms, OOPs, and OOA/D.\n\nRole Requirements\nBS in Computer Science or related fields with5+ years of professional experience or MS with 5+ years of experience;Equivalentwork experiencein lieuof adegree.\n\n2+Demonstratedexperience in modern programming languages and frameworks (Java Spring boot, DynamoDB/Postgres, Kafka, Redis, Apache Camel) and standard design patterns for implementing microservices.\n\n2+yearsofhands-on technical lead withdemonstratedexperience in designing and implementing large scale microservices.\n\n2+years ofexperiencewith agile development methodologies with Test Driven Development (TDD) and CI (Continuous Integration)/CD (Continuous Delivery).\n\n1+years ofexperiencewith architecture design concepts and techniques and the ability to communicate and evangelize those concepts to a broad-based team.\n\n1+yearshands-on experience in building microservices based architecture andplatformdeveloped and deployed at scale.\n\n1+yearshands-on experience building enterprise scale APIs used by web and mobile applications.\n\n1+yearsof experiencein Cloud (AWS) based architecture designs and implementations.\n\n6monthshands-on experience using AI coding agents to build or accelerate end-to-end software delivery.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience inFinTechindustry.\n\nExperience in building external customer-facing applications with open-source. technologies and understanding of front-end tech stack\n\nEstimated Job Posting End Date:\n11-30-2026This application window is a good-faith estimate of the time that this posting will remain open.
