For more information, visit westmag.com.\nAbout the role\nAs Maintenance Manager at Westmag, you will build and lead the maintenance function that keeps our production lines and facilities running as we scale manufacturing of drone motors and robot actuators. You will own predictive, preventive and corrective maintenance strategy, build a team of maintenance technicians, and partner with production and engineering to maximize uptime and equipment reliability. This role is central to bringing up our new South San Francisco facility and the automated lines that will drive our next phase of growth.\nResponsibilities\nBuild and lead Westmag's maintenance function, including hiring, training, scheduling and developing maintenance technicians.\n\nOwn the preventive and predictive maintenance program for production and facility equipment and set PM frequencies based on equipment criticality and failure history.\n\nLead response to emergency breakdowns and unplanned downtime and coordinate repairs with production to minimize lost output.\n\nDrive root-cause analysis on recurring failures and implement corrective actions that improve uptime and mean time between failures.\n\nSet up and administer the CMMS, including work orders, PM schedules, asset records and parts usage.\n\nTrack and report maintenance KPIs such as equipment uptime, MTBF, MTTR, PM compliance and maintenance cost.\n\nManage the spare parts inventory, critical spares list and relationships with equipment vendors and service contractors.\n\nOwn the maintenance budget and recommend repair-versus-replace decisions for aging equipment.\n\nPartner with production engineering on installation, commissioning and handoff of new and automated equipment, including the new facility move.\n\nEnsure maintenance work complies with Cal/OSHA requirements, including lockout/tagout (8 CCR §3314), electrical safety, working at heights and confined space procedures.\n\nMaintain compressed air, HVAC, electrical distribution, lighting, plumbing and general facility infrastructure through the team and outside contractors.\n\nDevelop maintenance SOPs, equipment documentation and technician training programs.\n\nProvide hands-on troubleshooting support on complex electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and PLC-controlled equipment as needed.\n\nRequired qualifications\nGED, high school diploma, or higher.\n\n7+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment, including 3+ years supervising or leading maintenance technicians.\n\nHands-on ability to troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and PLC-controlled systems.\n\nExperience building or running a preventive maintenance program and using a CMMS for work orders and PM scheduling.\n\nWorking knowledge of 120V/240V/480V electrical systems, and the ability to read electrical schematics, ladder diagrams, P&ID drawings and equipment manuals.\n\nStrong knowledge of lockout/tagout, electrical safety and Cal/OSHA or federal OSHA requirements.\n\nExperience managing spare parts, vendors and service contractors.\n\nAbility to track maintenance KPIs and present them clearly to production and leadership.\n\nClear written and verbal communication and the ability to train and coach a team.\n\nAuthorized to work in the United States.\n\nValid California driver's license.\n\nAbility to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening.\n\nPreferred qualifications\nAssociate's or bachelor's degree in an engineering, industrial maintenance or related technical field or equivalent years work related experience.\n\nExperience maintaining high-volume or automated production equipment (automotive, electronics, motors etc.).\n\nExperience standing up a maintenance function or commissioning equipment in a new facility.\n\nExperience with reliability practices such as TPM, RCM or condition monitoring (vibration, thermography).\n\nCertified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) or similar certification.\n\nWork environment & physical requirements\nOn-site role in an active production environment with exposure to machinery, electrical systems and moderate noise.\n\nAbility to lift and carry up to 50 lb unassisted.\n\nAbility to work at height on ladders and elevated platforms and within confined spaces.\n\nAbility to stand, kneel, crouch and reach for extended periods during hands-on troubleshooting.\n\nPPE required including safety glasses, steel-toed footwear, hearing protection and gloves as applicable.\n\nExposure to lubricants, solvents and cleaning agents; proper handling training provided.\n\nAvailability for on-call escalation and occasional overtime to support maintenance emergencies and equipment installs.\n\nWestmag is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
