For more information, visit westmag.com.\nAbout the Role\nAs a Quality Technician at Westmag, you will help make sure every part we receive and every product we ship meets our standards. You will inspect incoming components such as magnets, stator laminations, magnet wire, bearings, shafts, machined housings, and PCBAs, and verify finished motors and actuators before they leave the building. Working closely with Supplier Quality, Manufacturing, and Engineering, you will catch problems early and directly protect the reliability of what Westmag ships from U.S. factories.\nWhat You'll Own\nPerform receiving inspection of purchased parts and raw materials using drawings, GD&T, specifications and approved sampling plans (e.g., ANSI/ASQ Z1.4).\n\nMeasure dimensional and functional characteristics with calipers, micrometers, height gauges, pin and thread gauges, optical comparators and Keyence Optical Systems.\n\nConduct first article inspections (FAI) on new parts, new suppliers, and revised drawings and document results in standard reports.\n\nReview supplier documentation, including certificates of conformance, material certifications and test reports, for completeness and accuracy.\n\nIdentify, tag and segregate nonconforming incoming or finished material; write nonconformance reports (NCRs) and support Material Review Board (MRB) dispositions.\n\nProvide inspection data and evidence to Supplier Quality Engineers to support supplier corrective actions (SCARs) and root-cause investigations.\n\nPerform final inspection of finished motors and actuators, including visual, dimensional and labeling checks, and confirm required functional tests have passed before release.\n\nVerify traceability, packaging and shipping paperwork, and prepare certificates of conformance for outgoing shipments.\n\nInspect returned products and document findings to support investigations.\n\nMaintain accurate inspection records in our ERP and MES systems and track trends in supplier quality and incoming and outgoing defect rates.\n\nEnsure inspection equipment is calibrated, maintained and used correctly, and help develop and improve inspection instructions and checklists.\n\nRequired Qualifications\nHigh school diploma or GED; associate degree or technical certificate in quality, manufacturing or engineering discipline is a plus.\n\n3+ years of experience in quality inspection, preferably incoming or final inspection in a manufacturing environment.\n\nAbility to read and interpret engineering drawings, including GD&T.\n\nHands-on proficiency with precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges and pin and thread gauges.\n\nWorking knowledge of sampling plans, nonconformance reporting and quality management systems such as ISO 9001.\n\nStrong attention to detail and disciplined, accurate documentation habits.\n\nClear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work with suppliers and cross-functional teams.\n\nAuthorized to work in the United States.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience programming or operating a Keyence Optical, Zeiss CMM (e.g., PC-DMIS, Calypso) or vision measurement system.\n\nExperience inspecting electromechanical components such as magnets, laminations, bearings, wire or PCBAs.\n\nASQ certification such as Certified Quality Technician (CQT) or Certified Quality Inspector (CQI).\n\nFamiliarity with AS9100 or IATF 16949 environments and first article inspection standards such as AS9102.\n\nExperience with ERP or MES systems for inspection records and inventory holds.\n\nWestmag is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
