This position reports to the Director of Plants and Facilities Operations, and is responsible for the care and maintenance of landscaped areas, lawns, trees, irrigation systems, and outdoor facilities. The successful candidate will contribute to creating an attractive and welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.\nRequired Qualifications:\nHigh school diploma or equivalent. \nOne to two years of experience in landscaping, grounds maintenance, horticulture, or a related field.\nValid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. \nAbility to operate landscaping equipment safely and effectively. \nKnowledge of landscape maintenance techniques, irrigation systems, and plant care. \nAbility to perform physically demanding work in various weather conditions. \nStrong attention to detail and commitment to quality work. \nAbility to work independently and as part of a team. \nPreferred Qualifications:\nExperience maintaining grounds in a higher education, commercial, or institutional setting. \nKnowledge of native and drought-tolerant landscaping practices. \nIrrigation certification or related horticultural certification. \nExperience with snow removal operations. \nBasic knowledge of equipment maintenance and repair. \nEssential Duties and Responsibilities:\nMaintain campus lawns, gardens, flower beds, shrubs, trees, and other landscaped areas. \nPerform mowing, edging, trimming, pruning, weeding, mulching, and planting activities. \nOperate and maintain landscape equipment, including mowers, trimmers, blowers, chainsaws, and utility vehicles. \nAssist with irrigation system installation, monitoring, troubleshooting, and repairs. \nApply fertilizers, herbicides, and pest-control treatments in accordance with university policies and safety regulations. \nRemove snow and ice from walkways, entrances, and parking areas during winter weather events. \nAssist with campus event setup and outdoor facility preparation as needed. \nMonitor grounds for hazards and report maintenance concerns. \nMaintain cleanliness of outdoor spaces, including litter removal and landscape debris cleanup.\nFollow all safety procedures and participate in required training programs. \nSupport sustainability initiatives and environmentally responsible landscaping practices. \nPhysical Requirements:\nFrequently lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds. \nStand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work outdoors for extended periods. \nAbility to work in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow. \nCompetencies:\nReliability and strong work ethic.\nCommitment to customer service and campus community support. \nEffective communication and teamwork skills. \nAttention to safety and environmental stewardship. \nAbility to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively. \nEqual Employment Opportunity:\nWestminster University is committed to a diversified workforce, equal opportunity, and nondiscrimination.
