This is a hands-on individual contributor role, with no people leadership responsibilities.\nYou’ll design and deliver advanced analytics and production-grade artificial intelligence solutions, identify opportunities to automate audit activities, and use data to uncover emerging risks, control weaknesses and meaningful business insights.\nYou’ll work closely with audit teams and specialists across Technology, Risk and Compliance, applying tools such as Python, SQL, Alteryx and Microsoft Copilot to solve real business problems.\nYou’ll also contribute to Westpac’s advanced analytics and artificial intelligence roadmap, helping build capability and share knowledge across Group Audit.\nThis is a permanent, full-time opportunity based in Sydney with hybrid working arrangements available.\nWhat do I need?\nAround 3-5 years’ practical data science experience, ideally within financial services, audit, assurance or risk environments\nStrong hands-on experience applying machine learning, artificial intelligence, Generative AI, automation or predictive analytics to solve business problems\nStrong Python and SQL capability, including experience working with complex structured and unstructured data\nExperience designing, building or productionising AI and Generative AI solutions, including model pipelines, Large Language Model integration, monitoring or lifecycle management\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to independently investigate problems and translate technical outputs into clear business insights\nStrong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with a collaborative and practical approach to delivering solutions\nExperience with Azure, Snowflake, Microsoft Copilot Studio, Alteryx, AI agents or Machine Learning Operations is highly regarded.\nWhy join us?\nWe’re obsessed with becoming our customers #1 banking partner for life and we’re looking for people who are passionate about helping us achieve that goal.
