You will work within established engineering, security, risk and accessibility standards, collaborate with product, design, delivery, data and technology colleagues, and help improve the way your team builds and runs software.\nThis is a hybrid role within Westpac Technology. Opportunities may be available across Shared Data and AI, Digital, and Contact Centre teams. Location and working arrangements will be confirmed for each vacancy.\nWhat do I need?\nEssential skills\nPractical experience building, testing and supporting production software, data solutions, digital products, platforms or related technology services.\n\nWorking knowledge of at least onerelevant programming language,such as Java, Kotlin, C#, TypeScript, JavaScript, Python or Go. We value transferable engineering capability and the ability to learn adjacent technologies.\n\nExperience contributing to well-structured, maintainable code and using source control, peer review and automated testing as part of day-to-day delivery.\n\nAn understanding of service or interface development, data handling, and integration patterns. This may include REST, gRPC, events, SQL, APIs, data pipelines or equivalent technologies relevant to your discipline.\n\nExperience with modern delivery practices, such as Git, continuous integration and delivery, containers, cloud services, infrastructure as code, or similar tooling.\n\nAn understanding of how software is operated in production, including logging, monitoring, incident diagnosis, recovery and continuous improvement.\n\nA security and risk-aware approach, with attention to secure defaults, privacy, accessibility, quality and reliable customer outcomes.\n\nClear communication and a collaborative approach. You can explain technical choices, ask questions when information is unclear, respond constructively to feedback and work with people from different disciplines and backgrounds.\n\nExperience that may be useful\nYou do not need experience in every area below.
