This is an automation-led role, and strong, recent hands-on experience designing automation frameworks and building maintainable automated test solutions is a key requirement. Provide thought leadership, coaching and peer review across the Quality Engineering community while ensuring Financial Crime solutions, including NetReveal, meet business, operational and regulatory requirements.\nQuality Leadership & Test Delivery\nDefine and lead test strategies, quality standards and release acceptance criteria. \nPlan, coordinate and execute functional, integration, regression, performance, UAT and operational readiness testing. \nReview requirements, user stories, technical documentation and solution designs to ensure testability and quality outcomes. \nProvide quality leadership throughout solution design, delivery and release activities. \nMaintain oversight of test delivery and quality outcomes, proactively identifying and managing quality risks. \nCoach, mentor and educate team members and stakeholders on quality engineering practices, test automation and quality standards. \nActively contribute to the Quality Engineering community by sharing knowledge, standards and best practices. \nFinancial Crime & Data Validation\nValidate changes impacting AML monitoring, Customer Risk Assessment, Transaction Monitoring, Sanctions Screening and regulatory reporting. \nVerify end-to-end customer, account, transaction and alert processing. \nPerform data reconciliation, integration, API validation and testing across source systems, data flows and NetReveal. \nValidate that Financial Crime controls, detection models and system changes operate in accordance with business and regulatory requirements. \nIdentify quality risks, edge cases and control gaps that may impact compliance, operational resilience or customer outcomes. \nAutomation, Defects & Continuous Improvement\nDesign, develop and maintain robust automated test frameworks, test solutions and regression suites across UI, API, integration and data layers. \nLead defect triage, production incident investigation, root cause analysis and remediation validation. \nDrive continuous improvement in testing efficiency, coverage, quality metrics and engineering practices. \nPromote shift-left quality practices, automation-first test approaches, CI/CD integration and re-use of testing assets across teams. \nIntegrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines, using Git-based source control and quality gates to provide fast, reliable feedback. \nRisk, Audit & Release Governance\nProduce audit-ready testing evidence and maintain end-to-end traceability. \nSupport regulatory reviews, audits, compliance activities and risk assessments. \nAssess release readiness, quality risks and deployment impacts, providing recommendations for production releases. \nEnsure changes align with governance, compliance and operational readiness requirements. \nSupport quality reporting, test metrics and quality artefacts to enable informed delivery and risk decisions. \nNā tāu rourou | What will you bring?\nEssential\n5+ years' recent and relevant experience in Quality Engineering or Testing.\nExperience defining and implementing quality engineering best practices.\nExperience coaching, mentoring and providing quality reviews.\nStrong, recent hands-on automation experience is essential, including automation framework design, development and maintenance, and CI/CD pipeline integration.\nAPI, integration and data testing experience, including automated API validation.\nStrong SQL skills, with experience in data validation, reconciliation, ETL and data-pipeline testing.\nRisk-based test design, end-to-end traceability and defect management.\nExperience using XML and XPath for test design, validation and automation.\nExperience with Git and integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.\nHands-on programming or scripting experience in TypeScript, JavaScript and Python.\nExperience automating UI, API, integration and data-layer testing.\nKnowledge of ISO payment message types and associated data validation.\nNetReveal domain knowledge and experience testing NetReveal solutions.\nDesirable\nFinancial Crime, AML/CTF or banking experience.\nCustomer Risk Assessment (CRA), Transaction Monitoring or Sanctions Screening experience.\nExperience delivering complex initiatives in regulated environments. \nKo mātou tēnei | Our Organisation\nAt Westpac, we’re working together to build a fairer and stronger New Zealand for our people, customers, and communities.
