Thank you\n\nJoin the WeVote Movement\nWeVote has an open volunteer Senior Software Engineering position for an individual who wants to develop new skills with CSS/HTML, ReactJS or Python/Django, and use existing application development skills to help strengthen American Democracy. This position currently requires a minimum of 8 hours per week, and you could also easily spend 20 hours a week if you wanted to. WeVote is building a movement of over 150 excellent, passionate, part-time volunteers (starting with the founders) who build mobile technologies that will touch and mobilize millions of voters on Election Day. We have some very interesting and challenging engineering projects as we get ready for the 2026 elections.\n\nInstall our software on your development machine. We need full-stack engineers who can work in both React and Python, but if you prefer to focus on one or the other, we can work with you as well.\n\n - React-based Mobile Website, or\n\nWeVoteServer - Django/Python API Server (Mac/Unix only)\n\nWork with one of our engineering teams (3-5 people) in weekly Zoom meetings, where we have code discussions, and look at new projects available to take on.\n\nTackle specific issues as well as larger projects\n\nWho you are: Must haves.\nYou want to work with an established and successful team. You have a passion for the latest technology and are committed to strengthening American Democracy.\n\nYou have enough experience or aptitude that you can see 5-20 hour-long projects through to completion. We can support you and answer questions (with occasional pair programming), but the projects we have available could be called Intermediate to Advanced.\n\nYou are striving for personal excellence.\n\nAt least 8+ hours per week during our core team hours M-F 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. We understand not everyone is in the position to put in this many hours, but less time doesn’t work for our team.
