このポジションについて

WeWork Japanでは、API、バックエンドサービス、Webアプリケーションにまたがる複雑なプラットフォーム開発を主体的に推進するフルスタックエンジニアを募集しています。

本ポジションは、マネジメント職ではなく、技術面で実務を担う個人貢献者（Individual Contributor／IC）として、プラットフォームの戦略的な目標を具体的な開発計画に落とし込み、独立して技術的な意思決定を行いながら、プロジェクトをリリースまで推進する役割です。エンジニアリングチーム、プロダクトチーム、外部パートナーと連携し、グローバルシステムへの依存を減らすとともに、システム間の連携強化、信頼性および拡張性の向上に取り組みます。また、自身の専門知識を共有し、同僚の育成・指導を行うほか、AIを活用した開発ツールを適切に利用し、開発効率と成果物の品質向上を目指します。

主な職務内容

• 担当するプラットフォーム開発において技術的な方向性を定め、エンジニアリング部門全体の成果向上につながる具体的な計画を策定する。
• 新しいシステム、社内向けプロダクト、サードパーティとの連携を支えるプラットフォームAPIおよびサービスの設計・実装・運用を主導し、グローバルシステムへの依存を軽減する。
• 生産性向上に有効な場合は、AIを活用したコーディングや自動化を導入する。また、AIが生成したコードについて、正確性、セキュリティ、保守性、目的への適合性を検証する。
• 開発スピード、信頼性、セキュリティ、保守性、コストのバランスを考慮し、独立して技術的な意思決定を行い、その判断理由を説明する。
• 社内チームおよび外部のエンジニアリングパートナーと連携し、技術設計、インターフェース、開発・納品基準について調整する。
• 設計からリリースまで複雑なプロジェクトを主導する。マイルストーンの設定、技術的な依存関係やリスクの管理、開発上の障害の解決を行う。
• フロントエンドおよびバックエンドの開発プロセスを改善する。具体的には、テスト、コードレビュー、可観測性（Observability）、ドキュメント整備、デプロイメントなどの品質向上に取り組む。
• 設計レビュー、ペアプログラミング、技術的なアドバイスを通じてエンジニアを指導・育成し、専門知識をチーム内で共有する。なお、直接的な人事管理は行わない。
• エンジニアリング、プロダクト、オペレーションの各部門において、関係者が共通認識を持てるよう、技術的な背景、意思決定、進捗状況を適切に共有する。
• ユーザー向けのワークフローやシステム連携を含む、重要なバックエンドおよびWebアプリケーションのコードを開発・保守し、本番環境での稼働結果にも責任を持つ。

必要とされる経験&スキル

• 個人貢献者として複雑な技術プロジェクトを主導し、複数のチームと連携して、測定可能な成果を達成した実績があること。
• AIを活用した開発ツールの実務経験があり、生成された成果物の妥当性を適切に判断・検証できること。
• 本番環境で稼働するWebシステムおよびプラットフォームの開発経験が8年以上あること。
• 分散型サービス、RESTful API、外部システムとの連携設計に関する豊富な経験があること。
• PHP/Laravel、Node.js、または同等のフレームワークやサービスを用いたバックエンド開発スキルを有すること。
• JavaScriptまたはTypeScriptと、モダンなフロントエンドフレームワークを使用したWebインターフェースの開発経験があること。
• 認証（Authentication）、認可（Authorization）、APIセキュリティ、安全なWebアプリケーション設計について十分な理解があること。
• クラウド上の本番システムの運用経験があること。監視、インシデント対応、信頼性向上の取り組みを含む。
• 技術プロジェクトの計画・管理能力があり、独立して適切な判断を行いながら、直属の部下を持たずに同僚を指導・育成できること。
• 優れた英語でのコミュニケーション能力を持ち、技術職・非技術職を問わず、複数部門の関係者間で合意形成を図れること。

歓迎される経験＆スキル

• APIゲートウェイまたは共通プラットフォームサービスの設計・運用経験。
• AWSサービス（API Gateway、Lambda、EC2、S3、CloudFrontなど）に関する知識・経験。
• 共通APIやプラットフォームサービスを通じて、モバイルアプリケーションやフロントエンドチームを支援した経験。
• CI/CDおよびInfrastructure as Code（IaC）に関する知識・経験。
• 日本語能力。

About the role

WeWork Japan is seeking a Full Stack Engineer to own complex platform initiatives across APIs, backend services, and web experiences. As an individual contributor, you will turn strategic goals for the platform into practical plans, make independent technical decisions, and lead projects through delivery while remaining hands-on. You will work across engineering, product, and external partners to reduce dependencies on global systems, strengthen integrations, and improve reliability and scalability. You will share your expertise, mentor colleagues, and use AI-assisted development tools thoughtfully to improve delivery and quality. This role has no direct reports.

Responsibilities

• Set technical direction for assigned platform initiatives and translate strategic goals into plans that improve outcomes across the engineering function.
• Own the architecture, implementation, and operation of platform APIs and services that support new systems, internal products, and third-party integrations while reducing dependencies on global systems.
• Use AI-assisted coding and automation where they improve productivity, while reviewing generated work for correctness, security, maintainability, and fit for purpose.
• Make independent technical decisions and explain trade-offs among delivery speed, reliability, security, maintainability, and cost.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external engineering partners on technical designs, interfaces, and delivery standards.
• Lead complex projects from design through launch: define milestones, manage technical dependencies and risks, and resolve delivery blockers.
• Improve engineering practices across frontend and backend systems, including testing, code reviews, observability, documentation, and deployment.
• Mentor engineers through design reviews, pairing, and technical guidance; share deep subject matter knowledge without direct people management.
• Communicate context, decisions, and progress to the right stakeholders, maintaining alignment across engineering, product, and operations.
• Build and maintain critical backend and web application code, including user-facing workflows and integrations, and take ownership of production outcomes.

Qualifications

Must-Have:

• Track record of leading complex technical initiatives as an individual contributor and working across teams to deliver measurable outcomes.
• Practical experience with AI-assisted development tools and the judgment to validate their output.
• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience building production web and platform systems.
• Strong experience designing distributed services, RESTful APIs, and integrations with external systems.
• Strong backend development skills with PHP/Laravel, Node.js, or comparable frameworks and services.
• Hands-on experience building web interfaces with JavaScript or TypeScript and a modern frontend framework.
• Solid understanding of authentication, authorization, API security, and secure web application design.
• Experience operating cloud-based production systems, including monitoring, incident response, and reliability improvements.
• Ability to plan and manage technical projects, make sound decisions independently, and mentor peers without direct reports.
• Excellent English communication skills and the ability to align technical and nontechnical stakeholders across functions.

Preferred:

• Experience designing or operating API gateways or shared platform services.
• Familiarity with AWS services (API Gateway, Lambda, EC2, S3, CloudFront, etc.).
• Experience supporting mobile applications and frontend teams through shared APIs or platform services.
• CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code exposure.
• Japanese language proficiency.
