Your future starts here.\nAbout the Team/Role:As a Software Engineer Intern, you will work alongside engineers and Product Managers to tackle complex distributed systems challenges. In an evolving tech stack driven by AI-assisted and spec-driven development, you will focus on core software engineering principles, building backend components, and experimenting with AI agents in the cloud.\nHow you'll make an impact:\nEngineered Backend Solutions: Write clean, scalable code using C# / .NET based on strong Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles.\n\nImplement Cloud Security: Integrate secure authentication and authorization protocols (OAuth, OIDC, JWT, Passkeys) into application workflows.\n\nCloud & DevOps Workflows: C ontainerize applications using Docker and manage automated CI/CD pipelines on AWS using GitHub.\n\nInnovate with AI: Collaborate with senior engineers to explore, build, and integrate skill-based AI agents and productivity scripting.\n\nExperience you'll bring:\nEducational Foundation: Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degreein Computer Science, Machine Learning, Software Engineering, or related field and will have completed at least your Sophomore year of school at the start of the internship.\n\nStrong proficiency in C#, .NET, and Object-Oriented design fundamentals.\n\nFoundational understanding of identity and security protocols (OAuth, OIDC, JWT, or Passkeys).\n\nHands-on exposure to AWS, Docker containerization, and GitHub CI/CD workflows.\n\nExperience or interest in building AI skill-based agents, along with basic Python scripting skills, is a plus.\n\nThe base pay range represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position. Actual pay rates will vary and will be based on various factors, such as your qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. Base pay is one component of WEX's total compensation package. Most sales positions are eligible for commission under the terms of an applicable plan. Non-sales roles are typically eligible for a quarterly or annual bonus based on their role and applicable plan.
