We are seeking a seasoned Sr. Manager of Software Engineering to lead the WEX Beyond Fuel and Expense Management initiative within WEX Mobility Engineering. In this role, you will lead engineering teams across the United States and India to design, build, and scale payment and expense management capabilities. You will partner with Product, Design, and business stakeholders to define the technical strategy and deliver solutions that help fleet managers and operators manage business expenses, configure spend controls, and gain visibility into spending across fuel and non-fuel purchases. You will drive the adoption of AI throughout the software development lifecycle to improve engineering productivity, code quality, and delivery efficiency while ensuring security, reliability, and scalability.\nHow you’ll make an impact:\nLeadership & Strategy:\nDevelop, drive, and execute a long-term vision and strategy for the Beyond fuel and Expense management initiative at WEX.\nDrive, prioritize, and work backwards from customer requirements in collaboration with product and commercial partners.\nMaintain a well-thought-out roadmap and create clear, interdependent OKRs with product and commercial teams.\nEstablish a robust engineering roadmap to maintain clarity and motivation within the team.\nTechnical Ownership & Execution:\nBe as a hands-on technical leader with full ownership of systems design across mobile applications and backend microservices.\nDrive end-to-end AI-DLC, technical project execution, from initial concept through deployment and ongoing support.\nDevelop and track the progress of the architectural roadmap, aligning with business objectives and industry best practices.\nDrive cross-team engineering projects as a single-threaded owner (STO).\nImplement mechanisms to reduce time-to-market using evolving engineering approaches, continuously challenging the status quo.\nEstablish measurement of metrics-driven development productivity across the team.\nTeam Development & Culture:\nHire, lead, manage, retain, and grow high-performance software engineers through active career growth planning.\nFoster a culture of innovation, collaboration, empowerment, and continuous learning.\nMaintain career growth plans and provide monthly and quarterly feedback for individual progress.\nMaintain a granular resource map of developers and their month-over-month work streams.\nCollaboration & Efficiency:\nCollaborate with other Mobility engineering teams to reuse development practices and components, reducing duplication.\nDrive effective monthly and weekly mechanisms for planning, executing, and auditing workstreams.\nPartner with product and commercial (sales) leads to maintain a well-thought-out roadmap.\nComfortably present, influence, and communicate to the senior leadership team. Provide regular updates and insights to your manager on the challenges and opportunities.\nExperience you'll bring:\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering.\n8+ years of experience in software engineering with 4+ years of engineering management experience.\nExpertise in developing large-scale distributed systems and proven experience in testing and validating solutions for accuracy and performance\nAbility to automate generating scaffolding code, unit tests, and integration tests using past execution data and generative AI\nExperience in building products with AI-DLC with APIs and AI first approach\nStrong understanding of security and compliance requirements in cloud and data environments.\nExcellent leadership, team-building, and dynamic decision-making skills.\nAbility to deal with ambiguity and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nMaster’s degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering.\nExperience building credit card products, or experience developing solutions in a scheme/network.\nExperience building or managing fleet payments systems.\n Experience building high-performance distributed systems at internet-scale companies.\nFamiliarity with cloud platforms and containerization.\nThe base pay range represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position. Actual pay rates will vary and will be based on various factors, such as your qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. Base pay is one component of WEX's total compensation package. Most sales positions are eligible for commission under the terms of an applicable plan. Non-sales roles are typically eligible for a quarterly or annual bonus based on their role and applicable plan.
