We perform sanitary sewer, storm drain, culinary water, irrigation, earthwork, roadway construction, dams, landfills, natural gas pipelines, industrial piping, and telecommunication projects primarily in Utah, Idaho, Nevada, Wyoming, Colorado, and Oregon.\nRoles and Responsibilities:\nIncluding but not limited to the list below.\nDrive a service truck to various locations and perform servicing of gasoline and diesel-powered vehicles and equipment, including fueling, lubrication, changing oil, changing air and oil filters, and checking and adding fluids such as windshield washer, transmission, cooling system, brakes, and differential.\nPerform maintenance on the service truck.\nPerform preventative maintenance per assigned schedules for heavy equipment and the service truck.\nPerform minor repairs on the service truck and assigned equipment.\nComply with all safety policies, procedures, and standards of safety.\nOperate the service truck safely and efficiently.\nMaintain accurate time and material records through driver’s daily logs.\nPerform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on trucks pursuant to DOT regulations.\nObserve all traffic laws.\nShow constant awareness of personal safety and the safety of all co-workers and surroundings.\nBe flexible with schedule and location changes, as well as shift time changes.\nOther duties and responsibilities may be assigned by supervisors.\nSkills and Qualifications:\nHigh School Diploma or GED preferred. Any vocational training is strongly desired.\nThose with an education and/or work-related credential from a secondary or post-secondary educational system will be given preferred interview status (Precision Exams, NOCTE, etc.).\nA minimum of 2 years of commercial driving experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.\nMust hold a Class A or Class B CDL with Tanker and Hazmat Endorsements.\nMust hold a valid Medical Card per Department of Transportation (DOT) standards.\nA clean driving record is required.\nMust abide by all DOT requirements for commercial motor vehicle operations.\nMust follow verbal and written instructions.\nMust have maneuvering, backing, and defensive driving skills.\nProficient in the use of general tools, equipment, and methods for servicing, preventative maintenance, vehicle and equipment inspection, and minor mechanical repair work.\nMust be capable of managing and maintaining own tools and parts.\nKnowledge of standard lubricants and oils used in vehicle and equipment servicing work.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out the essential functions of the job.\nWillingness to learn.\nAbility to work effectively in a team environment.\nReliable transportation to get to and from work.\nPhysical Requirements:\nAble and willing to work long hours including day, night, and weekend shifts as needed, and work outside of normal hours.\nAble to sit, walk, lift, reach, stoop, stand, grasp, balance, climb, kneel, crouch, and lift up to 50 pounds frequently.\nAble to work in outside environments being subjected to weather changes, noise, vibrations, moving mechanical parts, and job hazards.\nRequires good manual dexterity.\nAbility to do physical labor and other strenuous physical tasks.\nWhitaker Construction offers an exceptional benefits package including:\nEmployee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP).
