This includes grounds, structures, aquatic facilities, and activity-specific equipment. The technician is responsible for routine inspection, cleaning, organization, and minor repairs to ensure all areas are operationally ready, safe, and presentable for daily use. Work is performed year-round in an outdoor environment. Technicians are on-site and can either be hired as full-time, benefits eligible employees or part-time seasonal employees reporting directly to the Outdoor Activities Maintenance Manager.\nResponsibilities\nGrounds & General Maintenance:\nCreate and manage the preventative maintenance program for land-based activities in alignment with departmental goals.\nNotify Department Head of any outstanding or incomplete tasks within the maintenance program.\nMaintain mulch and gravel areas; return clean material to appropriate pits.\nRake and fluff mulch areas; ensure bases of structures are free from excess mulch.\nMonitor and manage trash in all land activity zones; maintain bins in working order.\nMaintain functionality of outdoor drains.\nEnsure all fences in activity zones are secure and in good condition.\nOrganize and maintain storage areas for land activities.\nRopes & Program Equipment:\nConduct regular inspection and inventory of ropes and related gear.\nMaintain cleanliness of all equipment and follow an established cleaning schedule.\nKeep gear boxes and storage sheds clean and organized.\nManage trail maintenance: block unauthorized paths, repair erosion using natural materials, and consult with Department Head for solutions.\nPool & Deck Maintenance:\nOversee maintenance of pool deck and surrounding areas (note: water quality managed by separate team).\nClean pool walls, including edges beneath walls, to remove dirt and algae buildup.\nEnsure functionality and cleanliness of ladders, signage, fencing, gates, skimmer baskets/lids/boxes, and other equipment.\nMaintain cleanliness of the concrete pool deck.\nKeep chemical and pump rooms clean, secure, and organized.\nActivity Structures:\nConduct routine inspections of activity structures as directed by the Department Head.\nEnsure all signage is maintained and in good condition.\nCreate and adhere to a cleaning and staining schedule for all wooden structures.\nPerform minor structural repairs or maintenance projects as assigned.\nOther duties as assigned.\nRequirements\nFamiliar with quality and safety standards set by the Association for Challenge Course Technology (ACCT) and other relevant organizations.\nStrong background in working at heights, rigging, ropes course management, carpentry, or other related fields.\nExperience working safely and effectively with hand tools and power tools.\nAbility to contribute to a specialized, team-oriented work environment.\nFlexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and during other Whitewater events as needed.\nPhysical Demands\nMust be able to work outdoors for sustained periods of time in all weather and environmental conditions. \nMust be able to work in shared spaces with other employees and customers.\nMust be able to work comfortably and responsibly at heights of up to 100 feet and occasionally in confined spaces.\nMust be able to lift and carry at least 75 pounds.\nMust be able to safely self-transport over uneven terrain up to a mile or in a confined space.\nMust be able to frequently stand, hang, stoop, reach, climb and visually inspect to identify safety hazards. \nMust be able to bend, stand, lean, and kneel on a regular basis and for sustained periods of time.\nAll positions as Whitewater require employees to report and work onsite at Whitewater locations.\nBenefits\nAccess to Whitewater Center's pass activities\nStaff discount program and pro deals\n401K\nHealth, Dental, Vision, FSA (FT only)\nOverview of Department\nThe Outdoor Activities Department is responsible for leading and supporting experiences in a variety of water and land-based sports. The department also instructs guests through the Whitewater Center’s Outdoor School and Summer Camps.
