Apply today!\nWhitewater's Engineering Services team is looking for a candidate to join our team in Richmond, BC in the following role:\nPosition:Mechanical Engineering Intern\nDepartment:Engineering Services\nLocation:Richmond, BC, Canada\nReports to: Engineering Services Manager\nPurpose:\nWhiteWater West is seeking multiple Mechanical Engineering Interns to join our Engineering team at our Richmond head office for a 4-month term starting January 4th, 2027 (possibility of an extension)! In this position, you will work under the guidance of a Professional Engineer registered in BC as you undertake a variety of tasks to assist the multi-disciplinary Engineering department. Examples of previous work assignments include: supporting Continuous Improvement efforts, creating design documentation, and occasional opportunities to assist in developing CAD models and evaluate design elements. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team\nEssential Responsibilities:\nWork with staff to transition existing designs from legacy systems into the PLM database for water slide parts, product assemblies, electrical/mechanical items, and structural elements\nAnalyze differences in worldwide materials standards and perform relevant calculations to propose standard substitutions\nMark up existing drawings to identify parts either already in PLM or needing to be set up in PLM and work with staff to set up such parts\nWork within existing protocols for creation and file storage of all parts, assemblies, and drawings\nOccasional maintenance and rework of existing parts, assemblies, and drawings to conform to current protocols\nCreation of CAD models, fabrication part drawings, assembly drawings, AutoCAD mechanical schematics, and Bills of Material (BOMs) for use by our manufacturers\nOccasional lab work performing materials testing\nOther duties and responsibilities as required by the Engineering Services, Development, Composites, Mechatronics, and Waterslide Engineering teams\nPerform other duties as requested by the Engineering Manager\nQualifications & Experience:\nParticipating or recently completed post-secondary design education (prefer Mechanical Technologist, Mechanical Engineer, or Mechatronics student)\nProficient with CAD software including SolidWorks; CSWA would be a definite asset\nKnowledge of drawings standards (ASME Y14.100) would be a definite asset\nProficiency in Microsoft Office\nMust be legally eligible to work in Canada \nCompetencies, Skills & Abilities:\nCurious with the desire to understand and a passion to learn\nAbility to develop effective internal and external working relationships\nExceptional ability to listen, communicate (written and oral) and collaborate\nAbility to work independently and as part of a team, self-starter and energetic\nDetail-oriented with critical thinking\nWhitewater Competencies:\nAccountability - We do what we say\nCollaboration - We work well together\nCustomer Focus - We know and respond to our customers\nCommunication - We listen to and understand each other\nAuthenticity - We are honest and trust each other\nResilience - We deal effectively with pressure, are persistent and optimistic\nFlexibility & Adaptability - We are willing and able to respond to changing circumstances\nWhiteWater is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
