The Slitting Operator will be responsible for setting up and operating slitter machines and continually monitoring materials and machine parameters to ensure compliance with safety and customer specifications. The ideal candidate will be mechanically inclined. This role is located in Waterbury, CT, and will be fully on-site.\nHourly Pay Range: $29.30 - $30.30 per hour\nShift Differential: $0.40/hr 2nd shift differential\nWork Schedule: 2nd Shift (3:00 pm - 11:00 pm)\nPay Schedule: Weekly\nAt Wieland, we recognize that attracting the best talent is key to our strategy and success as a company. The final pay offered to a successful candidate will be based upon various factors unique to each individual that may include, but are not limited to, years of experience, industry knowledge, technical skills, education, qualifications, etc.\nResponsibilities\nSlitting Operator Responsibilities:\nComply with all safety rules and regulations.\nFollow PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and JSP (Job Safety Practice) documents.\nRead, understand, and follow all work instructions specific to the equipment.\nDetect and report faulty operations, improper material, and unusual conditions.\nMaintain equipment and work area in a clean and orderly condition.\nSet up and operate slitter machines. Continually monitor material and machine parameters to assure compliance with specifications.\nUse electronic contact and non-contact gauges, indicators, and controls to operate machine and check product.\nCheck material for proper gauge, surface finish, or other properties and communicate with metrology lab to ensure product meets appropriate specifications.\nMove material to and from machine using forklifts, transporters, cranes, pallet jacks.\nDirect the work of one or more operators to maximize machine uptime, quality, and productivity.\nOperate rewind equipment, core cutter, saws, etc.\nPerform light maintenance on machines, such as changing and cleaning work rolls, intermediate rolls, and bearings.\nPerform other similar or related duties or flex to other areas of the plant as required.\nSlitting Operator Qualifications:\nAbility to read and write English. \nAbility to maintain production records and logs.\n3-5 years’ experience running coil slitters or other related machinery.\nAbility to perform industrial math, addition, and subtraction.\nFamiliarity with the use of micrometers and calipers.\nExcellent decision-making skills and organizational ability.\nMechanically inclined, comfort level with using small hand tools.\nHigh School Diploma or Equivalent.\nQualifications\nJoining Wieland’s team gives you…\nBenefits - Including Medical, Dental, Vision, Disability, Life & more!\n Retirement Savings - 401(k) contribution + match.\nWork/Life Balance - Paid Vacation & Holidays.\nGrowth Opportunities - We have over 9,000+ employees worldwide and 40+ locations in North America alone.
