The Sr. Process Engineer will be responsible for improving production processes and the quality of the material to manufacture copper and stainless steel-alloy strips cost effectively. This role is located in Waterbury,CT and will be fully on-site. While this role is local, occasional travel to other locations will be required (15-25% travel).\nte. The final pay offered to a successful candidate will be based upon various factors unique to each individual that may include but are not limited to years of experience, industry knowledge, technical skills, education, qualifications, etc.\nResponsibilities\nSr. Process EngineerResponsibilities:\nDevelop, evaluate, and improve methods for complex manufacturing processes related to part fabrication of copper, steel and products. \nActively work with engineering, quality, and shop floor personnel to develop standards and problem solve processing issues\nEvaluate new product requests, develop process and routings, follow through to shipping\nDevelop new processes as well as change processing routers as needed to accommodate available resources. \nWork collaboratively with quality in evaluation of customer return and creation of rework for non-conforming material. \nEffectively plan and execute improvement projects that drive sustained results. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected\nStrong adherence to Wieland Safety Culture\nDevelop new and rework process routings for new and existing products.\nProcess Improvements: Evaluate processing issues, create rework steps, non-conformance, and new processing steps in the system. \nAssists in all quality audit functions from both customers and outside surveillance audits.\nWork collaboratively with production and laboratory personnel to support root cause analysis investigations of quality, Safety and process problems including use and coaching of statistical analysis for data driven problem solving\nReview mechanical properties of processed material to meet customer specifications and make processing changes as needed.\nSupport Sales and Technical Service needs as related to customer expectations, including dimensional layouts and capability studies, and root cause investigation.\nWork collaboratively with quality in addressing customer complaints and rejections. \nDevelop and assist with creation and auditing of standard processes\nAssist manufacturing with procedures, processing, and material issues.\nConduct experiments to develop processing parameters for new items or new alloys and also to evaluate the cause of non-conformance.\nOther duties as assigned.\nSr. Process Engineer Qualifications:\nBachelor’s degree in engineering or science - Preferred - Material Science. \n5-7 years’ experience in a metals processing engineering role or similar work experience equivalent. \nPreferred - Advanced metallurgical understanding of metal (mechanical properties, crystalline structure, etc.)\nFamiliar with ASTM standards for copper base and Stainless Steel and able to interpret standard.\nFamiliar with SAP ERP system (preferred)\nPreferred - Experience in the metals processing industry for copper-base and stainless-steel alloys\nPreferred - Understanding of metals processing equipment such as rolling mills, annealing furnaces, leveling lines, slitting equipment and their capabilities.\nAbility to understand metallurgical properties within the various metal systems \nKnowledgeable in ISO 9001, TS 16949 standards (internal auditor certification)\nEffective Root Cause analysis skills \nFamiliarity with SPC, PPAP, APQP, FMEA, Control Plans, and Quality Improvement Techniques. \nAbility to effectively communicate to customers, their needs and their requirements \nCertified Six Sigma - Minimum - yellow belt - preferred\nAbility to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences\nWork Environment is a Manufacturing facility with a Laboratory. \nAbility to communicate effectively to customers and all levels of the organization while handling confidential information. \nBasic Understanding of Electroplating of metal strip products - (preferred) \nQualifications\nJoining Wieland’s team gives you…\nBenefits - Starting on Day 1!
