In this role, you will be the central point of contact for authors, reviewers, and internal stakeholders, ensuring a rigorous, efficient, and fair peer-review process. You will leverage your scientific expertise to evaluate research, make critical editorial decisions, and contribute to the growth and quality of Wiley journal portfolio, such as Advanced Science, Advanced Materials, and other Advanced journals, Angewandte Chemie, Chemistry Europe titles, Small, physical status solidi, Macromolecular titles.\nKey Responsibilities:\nManuscript Handling & Peer Review:\nConduct expert-level screening of new submissions to assess their suitability, scope, and integrity for the journal.\nMake initial decisions on manuscripts and provide clear, constructive decision rationales in line with journal policy.\nProactively identify and raise potential integrity concerns through the appropriate channels.\nSelect, invite, and manage reviewers to obtain high-quality peer review reports.\nEvaluate reviewer feedback to make well-reasoned decisions (Accept, Reject, Revise, Refer).\nAssess revised manuscripts and author rebuttals to determine if changes are satisfactory or if further review is required.\nIdentify and recommend suitable alternative journals within our portfolio for rejected manuscripts that may be a better fit.\nContent Commissioning & Development:\nCommission articles and special issues in alignment with strategic publishing goals.\nInvite leading experts to contribute special content (e.g., reviews, commentaries).\nManage the pipeline for invited content, including sending reminders and tracking submissions.\nPerformance & Collaboration:\nAnalyze performance reports to identify trends and opportunities for improving the peer review process.\nCollaborate with senior editors and subject-area clusters to share knowledge and enhance personal and team performance.\nEngage in ongoing training and development to master editorial systems and best practices.\nWhat we look for:\nQualifications & Experience:\nA PhD in a relevant natural sciences field.\nPostdoctoral research experience is highly desirable.\nCurrently, we are primarily looking for subject matter experts in: Biomedical and Health Sciences (e.g. biomedical engineering, nanomedicine, biochemistry, immunology, cancer research, disease diagnosis and therapy, drug delivery, etc.)\n\nInternational research experience at a university or institute outside your home country is highly preferred.\nA genuine passion for science communication and the ability to rapidly broaden your knowledge across related research disciplines.\nA solid understanding of the scholarly publishing and peer-review process, gained through experience as an author, reviewer, or editor.\nTraining & Development:\nA commitment to staying current in your field by attending virtual and in-person scientific seminars and conferences.\nWillingness to participate in peer-to-peer coaching and formal system training to ensure proficiency with all editorial tools and platforms.\nWe power infinite possibilities.\nFor more than 200 years, we've transformed knowledge into discoveries that shape the world.
