We are a culture that obsesses over impact, challenges, and drives what’s next to power infinite possibilities for our customers, colleagues and society at large.\nAbout the Role:\nWe are seeking an Assistant Publisher to maintain and develop a portfolio of scholarly journals in Health Sciences.\nAs part of Wiley's Research Publishing, Publishing Development team, you will review journal performance and support growth in submissions, acceptances and published articles. Working closely with external journal editors, editorial boards and internal colleagues, you will help deliver journal development plans, support open access publishing and strengthen relationships across the research community. You will manage day-to-day editor engagement and seek guidance from senior colleagues on more complex matters.\nJob Responsibilities\nEvaluate journal portfolio performance against Wiley and departmental objectives and contribute to plans to grow submissions and published output.\nBuild and maintain productive relationships with external journal editors and editorial board members, holding regular discussions to review performance and identify opportunities.\nMonitor submissions, acceptances and published articles, working with editors to deliver agreed journal performance targets.\nSupport editor appointments, transitions and contractual relationships, including negotiating terms and setting performance objectives with guidance from senior colleagues.\nCollaborate with Author Delivery and other publishing teams on initiatives that improve efficiency, productivity and growth in open access publishing.\nPrepare reports, presentations and accurate records of portfolio activities, keeping senior colleagues informed and escalating complex issues when needed.\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's degree-level education.\nFoundational understanding of scholarly publishing and an interest in Life Sciences research.\nExperience preparing reports and presentations.\nClear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to build collaborative working relationships.\nGood organisational, time-management and problem-solving skills, with sound judgement about when to seek guidance.\nCommercial awareness, curiosity and a willingness to learn.\nPreferred Qualifications\nPrevious experience in journals publishing, research publishing or editorial management.\nFamiliarity with open access publishing and journal performance metrics.\nExperience working with external stakeholders, such as journal editors, researchers, partners or customers.\nExperience influencing or negotiating with stakeholders, and knowledge of the wider scholarly publishing industry.\nWe power infinite possibilities.\nFor more than 200 years, we've transformed knowledge into discoveries that shape the world.
