Bringing together strategic insight and technical horsepower to deliver outcomes that endure.\nThe Role\nWe are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join our Infrastructure Engineering team. You will be a hands-on technical expert, helping to design, build and run the corporate IT infrastructure that keeps the group companies productive and secure. You will work on complex, high-impact projects, act as an escalation point for the team, and help raise engineering standards through mentoring and example.\nResponsibilities\nDesign, deploy and maintain corporate infrastructure, including servers, storage, domain services, cloud services and enterprise applications.\nAct as a senior technical authority for the team, providing guidance, design reviews and mentorship to more junior engineers.\nContribute to the team’s technology strategy and roadmap, helping to shape priorities and technical direction.\nEvaluate and recommend new technologies that improve reliability, security and operational efficiency.\nLead and deliver infrastructure projects from design to handover, on time, within scope and to a high standard.\nOwn the resolution of complex incidents and problems, leading root cause analysis and driving lasting fixes.\nBuild and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity capabilities for critical systems, including regular testing.\nDrive automation and infrastructure-as-code to reduce manual effort, improve consistency and make the estate easier to run.\nBuild security into designs and solutions from the outset, working with our security teams to meet policy and compliance requirements.\nCollaborate with stakeholders across the business to understand requirements and deliver solutions aligned with business objectives.\nProduce and maintain clear technical documentation, standards and runbooks.\nTake part in the team’s on-call and out-of-hours support arrangements where required.\nRequirements\nThe ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:\nSignificant experience in an infrastructure engineering role, with a strong understanding of enterprise IT infrastructure components (e.g. networking, virtualization, storage, cloud computing, domain services).\nStrong proficiency in both Microsoft and Linux operating systems.\nSubstantial hands-on experience designing, operating and troubleshooting large VMware estates or alternate virtualization platforms.\nExperience with automation and DevOps tooling (e.g. Ansible, Python, Terraform, CI/CD pipelines), with a track record of automating real operational work.\nSound knowledge of IT security principles and practices, and the ability to build security into designs and solutions.\nStrong problem-solving skills and a results-oriented mindset, with the ability to diagnose complex issues under pressure.\nExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.\nExperience delivering projects, with working knowledge of Agile or other delivery methodologies.\nA collaborative approach, and a willingness to mentor and develop others.\nIt is impossible to list every requirement for, or responsibility of, any position.
