If you are a motivated professional looking for a long-term fit where you can grow in a role, and will be valued and empowered, then we invite you to apply to our Litigation Docket/Calendar Clerk position in our Los Angeles Office.\nThis position offers a flexible, hybrid working arrangement.\nThe Position\nA Litigation Docket/Calendar Clerk electronically calendars, oversees, updates, and maintains the Office’s events on behalf of the toxic tort team through a litigation docketing software. The Clerk schedules court sessions, legal hearings, and all proceedings related to the client matters.\nKey Responsibilities:\nCalendaring Toxic Tort Matters:\nSets up new cases in the firm’s electronic calendaring/docketing software: Milana.\nReviews all documents received, identifies events to calendar and enters into Milana.\nRequests calendar review by attorneys when previously entered events are rescheduled to determine if resulting deadlines change.\nAs necessary requests rules clarifications from Milana if attorneys question deadline calculations.\nCoordinates with Milana consultant on further development of our system as authorized.\nFile & Serve: Manage daily notifications from our e-filing and e-service vendor, File & ServeXpress (“F&S”).\nDocument Management: Retrieves electronic filings, U.S. mail, faxes and other documents. Saves to the correct case in the document management system, and e-mails to the correct attorney team.\nDaily and Weekly Calendar: Prepare and circulate the appearance calendar for the following day and circulate a draft appearance calendar for the following week.\nOther Tasks as Assigned\nQualifications\nMust possess strong knowledge of the State, Federal, Local rules. Must have a thorough understanding of the litigation process, as well as computation of time procedures, for accurate calculations of deadline.\n1-5 years of litigation docket and calendaring experience in a law firm legal docketing department or clerk's office.\nStrong knowledge of state and federal rules of civil procedures.\nFamiliarity with using an automated, rules-based docket and calendar system [Milana] and ability to make use of court rules, dockets, and other resources to aid in processing document\nMicrosoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) and PDF editing programs\nCourt Filing Systems: File & ServeXpress required\nAbility to comprehend, manage and sift through heavy court calendaring data\nStrong attention to detail and ability to multi-task\nAbility to work in a team-based setting and for multiple attorneys\nExcellent organizational skills with the ability to integrate into a fast-paced environment\nStrong customer service and communication skills [oral & written]\nHigh quantity and quality of document processing\nProvides efficient QC (Quality Control) for accuracy\nProblem solving and strong analytical skills\nProficient computer skills to utilize specific docket and third-party software\nCan assume other tasks and responsibilities as directed.\nWilson Elser offers a competitive salary and benefits package designed to support our attorneys both professionally and personally.\nA variety of factors are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to experience, education, licensure and/or certifications, geographic location, market demands, other business and organizational needs, and other factors permitted by law.
