Winthrop Technologies is a Dublin-headquartered data centre contractor that delivers turnkey projects from design through civil, structural, architectural, mechanical and electrical construction to commissioning. Established in 1995 as an MEP contractor, it now employs more than 750 people and is building data centres in seven European countries with over 430 MW of IT load in progress, including projects in Dublin, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Warsaw, Sweden and Finland. It recruits CSA, electrical and mechanical package managers, supervisors and engineers, estimators, quantity surveyors, quality leads and logistics managers for its sites.

Winthrop Technologies is Europe’s only dedicated data centre delivery partner, offering full turnkey solutions from design through construction and commissioning. Headquartered in Dublin, we deliver projects across Europe and have become the most trusted name in our sector.

We are seeking an Energy Marshall to join our team on major data centre projects in Dublin. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in managing electrical safety and the control of hazardous energy throughout construction, energisation and commissioning.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Electrical Construction, Commissioning and EHS teams, subcontractors and client representatives to coordinate safe systems of work, electrical isolations and energisation activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and monitor Control of Hazardous Energy (COHE) and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures across the project.
  • Coordinate electrical isolations, controlled access and safe energisation activities in line with project procedures and assigned authorisation.
  • Prepare, review and audit switching programmes, isolation schedules and associated safety documentation within the scope of the role.
  • Oversee the use of lockout devices, key safes and multi-lock isolation arrangements.
  • Coordinate the issue, review and close-out of electrical permits and safety documents through appropriately authorised personnel.
  • Liaise with construction and commissioning teams to manage interfaces between ongoing works and energised systems.
  • Review risk assessments and method statements for activities involving hazardous energy.
  • Carry out site inspections and audits, address non-conformances and maintain accurate isolation, permit and energisation records.
  • Deliver briefings to promote awareness of electrical hazards and project energy-control procedures.

Requirements

  • A minimum of five years’ relevant experience in electrical construction, commissioning or operations within large-scale industrial, pharmaceutical or data centre environments.
  • Proven experience implementing and managing COHE and LOTO systems.
  • Experience coordinating switching programmes, electrical isolations and permit-to-work arrangements.
  • Strong technical knowledge of electrical distribution systems, including LV, MV and HV equipment, switchgear, transformers, UPS systems and standby generators.
  • A strong understanding of electrical safety, risk assessment and safe systems of work.
  • Excellent communication, coordination and record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multiple contractors in a busy construction and commissioning environment.
  • A degree, diploma or recognised craft qualification in Electrical Engineering, Energy Systems or a related technical discipline.
  • Relevant experience as an Authorised Person (AP), Senior Authorised Person (SAP) or equivalent, with competency appropriate to the systems and voltage levels involved.
  • Relevant training in electrical safety, hazardous energy control, isolation and switching procedures.
  • Valid Safe Pass and relevant site safety training.
  • Additional qualifications, such as Working at Heights or IPAF, where required for the role.

Benefits

  • Work with a market leader in the data centre construction industry.
  • Be part of a forward-thinking team delivering critical infrastructure in a high-growth sector.
  • Long-term career progression opportunities and professional development support.
  • Competitive salary package.
