Our global footprint includes manufacturing plants, distribution facilities, and research and development centers around the world.\nWireCo® offers a competitive compensation and benefits package, including wages plus bonus program, paid time off, paid holidays, medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k) retirement plan with a generous company match, 100% company-paid life insurance, and 100% company-paid disability insurance.\nFor more information, check out our website at www.wireco.com and the following videos:\nhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6CJwd_yXZA\n Role Description\nThe Spooler Operator is responsible for transferring wire from bobbins onto the correct bobbins for production.\nThe Spooling Operator must exhibit the behaviors of the WireCo Business System (WBS):\nTeamwork - welcomes an environment of inclusiveness and healthy debate that reflects our team’s strength\nAccountable - celebrates our successes, learn from failures, avoid excuses, and own the outcomes of our efforts\nSelf-Aware - demonstrates an understanding of our strengths and needs, considering how our actions impact others\nNoble Intent - acts in the interests of others, approaching our work with integrity to ensure the best outcome\nDetermined - takes initiative, share ideas and find solutions to win and achieve our goals\nTransparent - promotes open and honest communication and constructive feedback for clarity and truth\nCurious - seeks knowledge and outside input to test our way of thinking, challenging the status quo\nDuties & Responsibilities\nSort and organize partial bobbins returned from machines, combining partial bobbins into full bobbins.\nLoad wire bobbins into let-off stands using a mechanical hoist as staged by the Wire Clerk.\nLoad empty bobbin in the spooler take-up.\nThread wire through guides and tension rollers and fasten to bobbin in take-up.\nWeld leading end of new supply to trailing end of wound wire when required.\nEngage spooler and observe operation to ensure proper winding and prevent tangles.\nMake adjustments as required to ensure proper tension and uniformity of winding.\nRemove full bobbins from take-up and stage in trays or proper storage area and attach proper tags.\nRecord all production and maintain a running total of wire spooled for special orders.\nMaintain a clean and safe work area by disposing of all scrap and debris in proper containers.\nPerform all job duties in accordance with work instructions and quality standards.\nResponsible for his/her own safety and the safety of those around the machine.\nRegular attendance, punctuality and the ability to work scheduled shifts including overtime when necessary.\nResponsible for removing scrap wire from bobbins to return to wire mill and to complete daily duties.\nAll other duties as assigned.\n Required Qualifications\nHigh School Diploma, GED, or ability to demonstrate basic literacy and math proficiency through education, experience, or assessment.\nWillingness and ability to learn how to operate precision measuring instruments, including micrometers.\nAbility to stand and walk on concrete floors for up to 12-hour shifts\nSpooling Operators will be required to use JDE TranCollector scan guns to issue and return material from a work order. Scan guns will also be used to record production and print production tags.\nAbility to use and read tape measure, feeler gauge, and basic hand tools.\nThe position requires the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis.\nCandidates must be able to safely handle materials and equipment as needed, following proper lifting techniques and workplace safety guidelines. Occasional bending, reaching, and standing for extended periods may also be required\n Materials and Equipment Directly Used\nRespooling machine, wire cutters, welder, micrometer, wrenches, mechanical hoist.\nPersonal protective equipment, including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and steel-toed safety shoes.\nAdditional Information\nMust be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction\nEmployment is contingent upon successfully completing a post-offer background check.
