The role does not hold MLRO accountability but plays a critical part in the identification, investigation, and escalation of financial crime risk.\nThis position is open to candidates based in Malaysia.\nWe require someone who speaks and writes fluently in the English language.\nWe kindly request that all resumes are submitted in English, please.\nAnticipated start date: October 2026.\nWorking Hours & Schedule\n40 hours per week, typically 8 hours per day excluding meal breaks.\nWorking hours will fall within the operational window of 9:00am - 7:00pm.\nExact daily shifts will be determined by the company roster.\nThe role operates on a rostered five (5) days on, two (2) days off (5/2) schedule.\nSaturday and Sunday may form part of the regular working week.\nWeekend working may be a permanent and essential requirement of the role.\nRest days will be scheduled according to the team roster.\nKey Responsibilities\nConduct AML and financial crime investigations and prepare internal suspicious transaction reports (STRs) for escalation in accordance with internal procedures.\nReview and support the escalation of alerts relating to adverse media, politically exposed persons (PEPs), and sanctions screening.\nPerform ongoing customer monitoring activities, including enhanced due diligence (EDD) and periodic customer reviews.\nUndertake transaction monitoring and investigations across both fiat and crypto products, identifying unusual or potentially suspicious activity.\nSupport transaction testing, data validation, and the ongoing enhancement and optimisation of transaction monitoring systems, scenarios, and rules.\nCollaborate closely with colleagues across the APAC and Global Risk & Compliance teams to resolve regulatory, AML/CFT, and operational compliance matters.\nProvide operational support to the Director of Financial Crime, APAC Head of Compliance, and APAC MLROs (including Singapore and Australia) on ongoing projects, regulatory requests, and ad hoc matters.\nCarry out other duties as reasonably assigned, consistent with the nature and level of the role.\nExperience & Skills Required\nMinimum 2 years’ experience in an AML/CFT, financial crime, or compliance operations role, with hands-on exposure to investigations, alert handling, and escalation processes.\nStrong written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to document investigations clearly and accurately.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, with good attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities independently.\nFamiliarity with cryptocurrency, digital assets, or blockchain-based products is desirable.\nExperience working within a licensed financial institution or payments services provider is advantageous.\nKnowledge of APAC regulatory expectations (e.g., Malaysia, Singapore, Australia) is beneficial but not essential.\nWirex Behaviours\nAbility to promote collaboration and sharing.\nContributes to creating a positive environment.\nPassionate about their area of expertise.\nTakes initiative, and drives innovations for our customers.\nEstablishes high personal goals.\nWorks towards collective success.\nInspires and supports others to succeed.\nBenefits\nGenerous leave + Public Holidays.\nPaid Charity Day.\nFlexible working hours and remote working.\nCompany-provided equipment.\nAnnual training and development budget.\nExtensive opportunity to grow your career at an innovative FinTech.\nIf you believe you have the skills and experience we’re looking for, we’d love to hear from you.
