This position ensures legal and regulatory compliance for all accounting and financial reporting functions. The Controller also oversees fund and general accounting, accounts receivable/collection, treasury/cash management, payroll/benefits administration, and risk management.?\nEssential Functions\nThe Controller is responsible as follows:\nProvides timely status of financial condition of the company by collecting, interpreting and reporting key financial data internally and externally in conjunction with the Finance Director and the Data and Reporting Manager. \nCalculates variances from the budget and reports significant issues to management; provides for a system of management cost reports. \nReports results, identifies trends and makes recommendations based on the analysis performed to solve day-to-day financial business problems. \nMaintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures. \nEnsures that periodic bank reconciliations are timely and accurately completed. \nEnsures that required debt payments are made on a timely basis. \nTracks financial covenants and performance ratios \nLeads the external audit process \nLeads tax return preparation with the Auditor. \nIn conjunction with the Finance Director and the CFO, applies advanced knowledge to perform a full array of complex financial analysis that may include income, profitability, liquidity, cash flow, capital, leverage, and asset and liability management. \nEvaluates and advises the CFO on the impact of long-range planning, introduction of new programs/strategies and regulatory action. \nWorks closely with Senior Leadership, the CFO, the Finance Director, and IT to implement financial tools and solutions that are flexible and responsive, aiding the business with problem solving and decision making. \nProvides timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports and financial trends in order to assist the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Financial Officer, and the Board and other managers in performing their responsibilities. \nTeach others about financial processes, drivers and systems ensuring information sharing and knowledge transfer. \nWorks with Resource Director and Policy & Resource Development to provide financial data for grant requests and ensure that systems are in place to track specific grant requirements, deliverables, etc. \nAssists CFO, Resource Director, and Policy & Resource Development in working with financial institutions and other organizations to secure required capital for organization \nPartners with CFO and Finance Director to evaluate cash management strategy and implement changes as necessary, ensuring that cash is being adequately managed. \nUses the Homewise, Inc. STARS database system, Sage Intacct, Bill.com, Paylocity, Microsoft Suite and other electronic tools to provide the best service to customers. \nComplies with all applicable regulations, policies, and procedures. \nExpected Outcomes\nAccurate and timely publishing of Homewise’s and subsidiary financial statements by the 15th of each month. \nUnqualified audit opinion with no significant findings or material weaknesses noted. \nEnsuring continued development of team members and cross training for every task. \nCompetencies\nStrategic thinking.
