Full speed.\nWhether people and businesses are sending money to another country, spending abroad, or making and receiving international payments, Wise is on a mission to make their lives easier and save them money.\nAs part of our team, you will be helping us create an entirely new network for the world's money.\nFor everyone, everywhere.\nMore about our mission and what we offer.\nJob Description\nAs a valued member of our group privacy team, based in London, you will provide legal advice and guidance on privacy matters, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.\nReporting to the UK & EMEA privacy lead you will work with various business units and stakeholders to ensure privacy is embedded in new initiatives and projects, including several AI projects.\nOur group privacy team is part of the legal tribe and works with other privacy and data protection stakeholders at Wise, including engineering teams, risk, operations and the business teams that develop and manage financial products and services.\nQualifications\nWhat You’ll Work On\nPriorities can often change in a fast-paced environment like ours, so this role includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities\nProduct Counselling, including advising on DPIAs for high risk processing and strategic AI initiatives;\n\nWise Platform and Banking Partner Contracting;\n\nAdvising on privacy requirements for expansion into new jurisdictions;\n\nAdvising on data sharing arrangements;\n\nAdvising on a range of privacy and data matters relating to AI adoption at Wise;\n\nCompliance with cross-border data protection requirements\n\nAssisting with periodic global and/or entity audits;\n\nSupport Implementation of data governance and AI governance frameworks;\n\nAdditional Information\nSkills\nTo thrive in this role, you will be a self-starter and a great influencer and communicator. You will be comfortable working in grey areas and making judgement calls at speed. You will be obsessed with detail and happy handling competing priorities and differences of opinion. You will have strong project management skills and be able to break through walls to get things done, collaborating with cross-functional teams to find practical solutions. You will have:\nSignificant exposure to privacy and AI issues in the UK and Europe with an emphasis on use of EU/UK data in sophisticated market scenarios\n\nExperience in privacy by design and data protection impact assessments, including for AI initiatives\n\nExperience in drafting and negotiating privacy related contracts and developing compliance and auditing frameworks\n\nExcellent written and verbal skills in English\n\nAdmitted to practice law in the UK or a European jurisdiction with at least 4 years PQE experience of advising on privacy matters\n\nA problem solving attitude, with the ability to use regulation together with data to drive business decisions\n\nStrong relationship management skills with ability to deepen relationships and build partnerships across the business, including in operations, engineering, and risk\n\nComfortable taking the initiative and working across multiple business lines and jurisdictions\n\nAn understanding of digital and consumer focused businesses, including new and developing businesses is also advantageous\n\nAbility to drive and deliver projects from inception to completion, timely and with attention to detail\n\nDesirable\nRelevant privacy qualification, such as CIPM, CIPP or equivalent.\n\nFinancial services experience is a plus\n\nExperience of data anonymisation, PETS, and familiarity with ethical frameworks, data governance and accountability\n\nFor everyone, everywhere.
