We currently process about £34 billion annually and issue cards to over 40 countries. We are also building out features which localise the spending experience no matter where you are.\nAs a Software Engineer, you would be responsible for shipping the direct customer touch points on one of Wise's most impactful products and highest growth products.\nHow you’ll be contributing to our Engineering team:\nHelp us take Wise to the next level as we scale to impact 100's of millions more customers. You'll hide away all complexities under the hood of our product and build seamless experiences for our customers\n\nWorking on the core cards flow of Wise, growing our user base who uses cards. You'll ensure our customers get the best experience onboarding to cards and using it for the first time. You will also help with building efficient tooling for our Operations team to support global expansion\n\nCreate clear and helpful interfaces and documents, whilst maintaining consistency, maintainability, performance and an understanding of what problems our customers might encounter along the way\n\nTake initiative to identify and solve important customer problems, while coordinating with other teams on solving cross-cutting technical issues\n\nDrive product improvement that impacts the Wise customer experience or empowers internal stakeholders (teams like Operations, Customer Support, Finance, etc.) to do their job effectively\n\nProactively identify and tackle technical debt becoming too big through planning work and aligning the team. Does this with careful evaluation of additional cost on development\n\nWhat does it take?:\nAt least 3 years of hands-on experience developing backend driven applications\n\nYou approach your work with a strong product mindset and passion for user experience, you prioritise work with the customers in mind and make data-driven decisions to fix a customer pain-points\n\nYou have great communication skills and can articulate complex, technical concepts to non-technical audience\n\nYou enjoy writing testable code and believe in Test Driven Development\n\nYou believe in and follow best coding practices, code reviews and open feedback\n\nYou provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level developers\n\nYou have solid Java 17+ knowledge and experience with Spring framework\n\nYou have front end experience with one of JavaScript frameworks like React or others\n\nYou have experience working with relational databases, query optimisation and designing schema\n\nYou are familiar with Continuous Delivery Approach mindset\n\n…but don’t worry we don’t expect you to know everything!\nSome extra skills that would be great:\nYou have experience with financial systems\n\nYou have knowledge of PostgreSQL, advanced types and query features\n\nYou know your way around event driven architecture\n\nYou have some Groovy experience\n\nTo get the best view of what we expect at all levels of our engineering team, you can take a look at our Engineering Career Map.\n For everyone, everywhere.
