The Controls Engineer will ensure system functionality, compliance, and performance through the application of robust engineering, test, and configuration management practices.\nRequirements\nKey Responsibilities:\n· Control System Design & Development:\no Develop and implement PLC-based control systems using Siemens TIA Portal, ideally including STL or another statement-based language.\no Design and configure control architectures, including PLC, SCADA, SAC, and safety systems to meet functional and regulatory requirements.\no Interpret and implement system requirements into technical control solutions.\n· Commissioning & Testing:\no Conduct software and hardware commissioning of control systems for automated baggage handling systems.\no Manage and execute detailed test plans, procedures, and documentation, ensuring traceability to requirements and standards.\no Interface with automated baggage system equipment, OEM suppliers, and airport stakeholders during integration and commissioning phases.\n· System Engineering & Quality:\no Apply systems engineering principles, contributing to the full lifecycle including requirements capture, design, development, integration, and validation.\no Manage configuration control of control systems, software versions, and associated documentation in line with QMS protocols.\no Ensure system safety compliance and support development of safety documentation for Hold Baggage Screening (HBS) and related processes.\n· Tools & Process Management:\no Utilize Emulate3D for system emulation and validation.\no Operate within formal requirements management and quality management systems (QMS) to ensure traceability and audit readiness.\no Champion best practices in test management, version control, and configuration assurance.\nRequired Qualifications & Certifications:\n· Degree or Higher National Certificate/Diploma in Electrical, Control Systems, or Automation Engineering (or equivalent experience).\n· Certified to perform supervision under industry and site-specific standards (e.g., ECS, SSSTS).\n· ISTQB Certification in software testing.\n· Siemens TIA Portal training or demonstrable project experience (preferred).\n· Airside pass eligibility and security clearance capability (for airport work environments).\nSkills & Experience:\n· Proven experience in the development and commissioning of PLC-based control systems, ideally in airport baggage automation.\n· Strong working knowledge of Siemens TIA Portal, with additional experience in STL or other statement-based languages.\n· Experience with SCADA systems, HMI development, and field I/O integration.\n· Familiarity with Hold Baggage Screening (HBS) processes, safety systems, and airport operational constraints.\n· Understanding of configuration management in complex engineering environments.\n· Experience using requirements and test management tools (e.g., DOORS, Polarion).\n· Strong communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.\n· Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams.\nWorking Conditions:\n· Role may include a mix of office-based design work, on-site commissioning, and off-site testing.\n· Work at secure airport locations;
