This role manages all fleet maintenance, repair, compliance, and asset utilization activities while ensuring safe, reliable, and cost-effective operations.\nThe Fleet Manager continually focuses on achieving market-based profitability through effective planning, budgeting, and control of fleet-related expenses. Responsibilities include overseeing preventative maintenance programs, vendor relationships, inventory management, equipment lifecycle planning, and regulatory compliance with all DOT, OSHA, and company standards. The position plays a key role in driving equipment availability, minimizing downtime, enhancing operational efficiency, and supporting the overall success of the business.\nIn addition, the Fleet Manager is responsible for developing and coaching fleet personnel, promoting a strong safety culture, and ensuring high standards of training and performance. The ideal candidate is a results-driven leader with strong mechanical knowledge, financial acumen, and the ability to build a high-performing team while delivering exceptional service to internal and external customers.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\nEnsures safe and reliable vehicles are available to meet operational requirements. Conducts fleet evaluations to ensure maintenance standards are met.\nManages maintenance managers to ensure performance and cost focus across the area.\nReviews capital equipment requisitions in line with Corporate guidelines and objectives.\nManages effective utilization of vehicle assets.\nEnsures maintenance shops are adequately staffed and mechanics are properly trained.\nEnsures vehicle management systems are effectively utilized.\nComplies with and ensures adherence to WM’s Mission to Zero standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient operations.\nMeets all financial review dates and corporate directed programs in a timely fashion.\nAssists in budget process as required.\nAssists in creating a positive team-oriented environment through employee development and motivation.\nEnsures the cleanliness and maintenance of the maintenance shops through regular inspections and preventive maintenance programs.\nOversees personnel needs of the department including selecting, coaching, and training staff and maintenance managers, and evaluating employee performance. Provides input into termination, compensation, and promotion decisions.\nMotivates, coaches, counsels and disciplines managers according to WM’s policies and procedures and ensures that maintenance managers are in compliance with the standards in their administration of counseling and disciplinary steps.\nProvides training and presentations as needed in a positive and professional manner.\nQualifications \nA.
