This full-time position is based in Manassas, VA, with a 7:00 AM start time, Monday through Friday, and Saturday work as needed. The Fleet Manager leads a team of 9-10 employees, including Technicians, Senior Technicians, Supervisors, and Operational Support staff, while maintaining a fleet of approximately 45 trucks.\nThis role is accountable for managing the full fleet of primary and secondary equipment and continuously driving profitability through effective oversight of all fleet and maintenance activities. Responsibilities include controlling maintenance costs, ensuring preventative maintenance compliance, maximizing fleet uptime, developing and coaching employees, and maintaining the highest standards of safety and regulatory compliance. The Fleet Manager partners closely with operations leadership to support business objectives, improve equipment reliability, and foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and operational excellence.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\nEnsures safe and reliable vehicles are available to meet operational requirements. Conducts fleet evaluations to ensure maintenance standards are met.\nManages maintenance managers to ensure performance and cost focus across the area.\nReviews capital equipment requisitions in line with Corporate guidelines and objectives.\nManages effective utilization of vehicle assets.\nEnsures maintenance shops are adequately staffed and mechanics are properly trained.\nEnsures vehicle management systems are effectively utilized.\nComplies with and ensures adherence to WM’s Mission to Zero standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient operations.\nMeets all financial review dates and corporate directed programs in a timely fashion.\nAssists in budget process as required.\nAssists in creating a positive team-oriented environment through employee development and motivation.\nEnsures the cleanliness and maintenance of the maintenance shops through regular inspections and preventive maintenance programs.\nOversees personnel needs of the department including selecting, coaching, and training staff and maintenance managers, and evaluating employee performance. Provides input into termination, compensation, and promotion decisions.\nMotivates, coaches, counsels and disciplines managers according to WM’s policies and procedures and ensures that maintenance managers are in compliance with the standards in their administration of counseling and disciplinary steps.\nProvides training and presentations as needed in a positive and professional manner.\nQualifications \nA.
