Job Summary\nLead Drivers substitute for the drivers of open routes, supporting drivers to complete routes, and provides other operational support as directed by the Route Manager, which will include training new drivers, retraining, and follow up training of current drivers. Mentors new drivers, participates in routing projects and other developmental programs.\nII. Essential Duties and Responsibilities\nProvides On-the-Job training of new drivers and retrains drivers who have been re-assigned to new routes, line of business or drivers who have driving performance issues.\nObserves and coaches new drivers to ensure proper and consistent safety and performance duties are achieved.\nOperates vehicle in accordance with WM Safety and Life Critical Rules, OSHA (Occupational and Safety Health Act) and DOT (Department of Transportation) requirements as well as all local, state and federal laws.\nPerforms pre- and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicle and documents checks utilizing the standard DVIR (Driver Vehicle Inspection Report).\nImmediately reports all unsafe situations or service related issues to Route Manager or Dispatch.\nAttends and participates in all scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings as required by WM or directed by the Operations Manager.\nWorks closely with Operations Manager to improve route efficiencies and identify best practices.\nNotifies Operations Manager of any incidents, accidents, injures, or property damage.\nNotifies Operations Manager or Dispatch of service interruptions, including blocked containers, closed lots, streets, alleyways or potential safety hazards.\nCommunicates customer requests to Operations Manager or Dispatch.\nIdentifies and reports all containers in need of repair or replacement.\nFollows route assignments as directed and completes end of day documentation and check out process.\nMaintains training documentation and records of all driver’s training.\nMentors new drivers to help in the acclamation to District and the Driver role.\nPerforms all duties as scheduled by Operations Manager or Dispatch and assisting other drivers as directed to meet customer needs.\nIII. Qualifications\nA. Required Qualifications\n5 years operating a vehicle requiring a CDL or\nEquivalent military driving experience within the last 7 years and\nMust be at least 18 years of age and legally eligible to work in the country where the position is located and\nAble to read, write, and speak English well enough to interact with the public, understand traffic signs, respond to official questions, and complete records or reports \nSuccessfully complete pre-employment screening, including drug screen and physical\nCommercial Driver License (CDL) Class A with an air-brake endorsement or\nCommercial Driver License (CDL) Class B with an air-brake endorsement\nB. Preferred Qualifications\nHigh School Diploma or G.E.D (accredited)\nIV.
