Job Summary\nIt is the responsibility of the Medical Technologist to collect laboratory specimen as requested. The specimens are analyzed according to laboratory standards, recorded accurately so that the best service possible is available to the Physicians for use and diagnosis and treatment of the patient.\nII. Duties And Responsibilities\nCollects, receives and accessions a variety of specimens.\nPerforms and documents laboratory test and/or results.\nPerforms and records calibration according to policy ..\nPerforms and records daily Quality Control and documents corrective action.\nPerforms and records maintenance procedures according to policy.\nPerforms basic clerical duties related to test data with notification of critical values according to policy.\nPerforms and records analysis of proficiency test according to policy.\nOther Responsibilities:\nMaintains assigned lab section to include QC, maintenance logs, inventory of supplies, and procedure manuals.\nComplies with policies and procedures regarding department operations, fire safety andInfection control\n\nMaintains and ensures patient confidentiality at all times.\nComplies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.\nCompletes annual safety, infection control and educational requirements\nIs knowledgeable of the mission, ethics and goals of the department.\nParticipates in CQI activities\nEmployee authorization for access to EPHI is determined by job function and is under the direction ofhis/her Department Director.\n\nTrains new MT or MLT employees\nEmployee will be required to be readily available to work during any weather related incidents or other natural disasters and/or any emergency situations that may rise.\nIII. Education\nB.S. Degree, MT (ASCP) certification or MT classification as recognized by GDCH with certification.\nCertification: MT classification as recognized by ASCP, AAB, AMT, or HEW\nLicensure: None\nEducation and/ or In-services to verify ability to obtain specimens appropriately for the age of the patient i.e. Geriatrics, Pediatrics.\nCPR is required every two (2) years.\nIV. Qualifications And Experience\nWith credentials and hospital orientation, entry level into position. Experience preferred.\nV.
