We are looking for strong technical problem solvers with the ability to learn new technologies quickly.\nThe role includes planned evening and occasional weekend work to support customer deployments outside of core business hours.\nKey Responsibilities\nDeliver software installations, upgrades and server migrations from planning through to completion.\nInstall, configure and troubleshoot Microsoft SQL Server environments.\nPerform database backup, restore and migration activities.\nUse T-SQL to investigate and resolve database and application issues.\nTroubleshoot Windows Server, authentication, permissions, networking and application deployment issues.\nSupport and diagnose issues within Citrix, Remote Desktop Services (RDS) and Azure Virtual Desktop environments.\nAnalyse Windows, application and SQL Server logs to identify root causes.\nUse PowerShell and other automation tools to support delivery and troubleshooting activities.\nWork directly with customer IT teams and third-party providers to resolve technical issues.\nEnsure appropriate recovery and rollback procedures are in place for all business-critical work.\nProduce clear technical documentation and handover materials.\nContribute to process improvements, automation initiatives and knowledge sharing.\nEssential Skills & Experience\nSignificant experience within IT infrastructure, technical support or application support environments.\nStrong knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server.\nStrong Microsoft SQL Server administration and T-SQL skills.\nExperience with SQL Server backup, restore and database migration.\nAbility to troubleshoot and write diagnostic SQL queries.\nExperience supporting and troubleshooting business-critical applications.\nExperience with Citrix, RDS, Azure Virtual Desktop or similar technologies.\nSolid understanding of networking, authentication, permissions and application dependencies.\nExperience using technical logs and diagnostic tools to investigate incidents.\nPowerShell or similar scripting experience.\nAbility to work independently and make sound technical decisions under pressure.\nStrong customer-facing communication skills.\nFlexibility to support agreed evening and weekend work requirements.\nDesirable Skills & Experience\nC# and .NET development or code-review experience.\nSoftware development background.\nExperience diagnosing application issues through source code, logs and database analysis.\nAdvanced SQL Server performance tuning and administration.\nExperience developing automation or diagnostic tooling.\nKnowledge of Wolters Kluwer CCH products or similar professional services software.\nKey Behaviours\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.\nOwnership and accountability for delivering results.\nCalm, methodical approach in high-pressure situations.\nCuriosity and persistence when investigating unfamiliar issues.\nCommitment to continuous learning and development.\nCollaborative approach with strong knowledge-sharing habits.\nProfessional and confident customer communication.\nGood judgement in managing technical risk, escalation and recovery planning.\nOur Interview Practices\nTo maintain a fair and genuine hiring process, we kindly ask that all candidates participate in interviews without the assistance of AI tools or external prompts.
