Wolverine Worldwide is a footwear and apparel company headquartered in Rockford, Michigan, that designs and markets brands including Merrell, Saucony, Wolverine, Sweaty Betty, Chaco, Hush Puppies, Bates and HYTEST, and licenses CAT and Harley-Davidson footwear. Founded in 1883 and listed on the New York Stock Exchange, it sells in roughly 200 countries and territories through wholesale partners, distributors and its own stores and websites. It hires brand marketing, sales and key account managers, product and digital designers, retail supervisors for Sweaty Betty in the UK and corporate operations staff.
Merrell exists to share the simple power of being outside with everyone. We believe the "outdoors" is a much broader space than just the mountain summit; it’s any space beyond your front door. Our mission is to help our community rethink the outdoors by building gear that works everywhere, from technical alpine ridges to urban city streets. We don't just follow the trail; we help define where it goes next.

We are a team that lives at the intersection of elite performance and modern style. Our history on the trail and commitment to innovation has made us the most awarded brand in the outdoor space. Recently, our MTL SpeedARC Peak won the prestigious ISPO Award for its breakthrough trail-racing tech, while the SpeedARC Surge BOA was named one of TIME’s Best Inventions for its modern, futuristic design and energy return. Whether it’s the Moab 3 being named “Best Hiking Shoe” by CNN Underscored and Popular Mechanics, or the Jungle Moc being recognized by HuffPicks as the gold standard for comfort, we are consistently recognized for building the most reliable, and most innovative, gear in the world.

The Digital Designer will join The Agency, Wolverine Worldwide's in-house creative agency, supporting the Merrell brand as part of the Digital Creative team. Reporting to the Senior Digital Designer, you’ll create digital-first marketing assets from concept through execution, bringing Merrell to life across key digital touchpoints while collaborating closely with creative, marketing, UX, development, and project partners.

This is a great opportunity for a designer who combines strong visual craft with a digital-first mindset-someone who understands how ideas move across channels and wants to create work that feels useful, inspiring, and unmistakably Merrell.

Primary Duties:

  • Design digital assets and experiences that bring Merrell campaigns, products, and brand stories to life across websites, landing pages, paid social, display ads, email, and other digital marketing channels.
  • Apply insights, user behavior, and performance data to inform design decisions and continually improve digital experiences.
  • Translate brand direction, campaign concepts, and business goals into polished creative that feels purposeful, channel-aware, and true to Merrell.
  • Create layouts, templates, design-system elements, and production-ready assets that help the team move quickly while keeping the brand experience consistent and elevated.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to align creative direction, clarify requirements, and move digital work smoothly from concept through delivery.
  • Design with the full customer journey in mind, considering how each asset functions across responsive, interactive, and platform-specific experiences.
  • Use Figma as a core design tool to prototype ideas, organize work clearly, collaborate with partners, and prepare files for handoff.
  • Contribute motion concepts, animated assets, and interactive ideas using foundational animation principles where appropriate.
  • Stay curious about digital design trends, platform requirements, creative best practices, and emerging tools that can help the team create sharper, smarter, more engaging work.
  • Performs duties consistent with the Company’s AAP/EEO goals and policies.
  • Performs other duties as required/assigned by manager.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent Work Experience
  • 3+ years’ experience in a Digital Creative role on an agency or in-house team.
  • A strong portfolio that shows digital-first design work with clear craft, thoughtful storytelling, and an understanding of how creative performs across web, social, email, advertising, or campaign-based channels.
  • Understanding of responsive and mobile-first design principles, accessibility considerations, and digital experience best practices.
  • Experience designing for digital environments such as responsive websites, email, paid media placements, touchscreen experiences, and other interactive or platform-specific formats.
  • Proficiency in Figma, with experience designing, prototyping, organizing files, collaborating with partners, and preparing work for handoff.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, with the ability to create, refine, and prepare visual assets for digital production.
  • Strong visual design fundamentals, including layout, typography, hierarchy, color, composition, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects at once, incorporate feedback, and deliver high-quality work within evolving timelines and priorities.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present design thinking clearly, respond thoughtfully to feedback, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional partners.

Bonus Skills & Experience:

  • Advanced Figma experience, including scalable components, variants, variables, auto layout, prototyping, shared design libraries, and disciplined file structures.
  • Deep knowledge of animation principles, motion design, or animated digital asset production.
  • Experience working with emerging digital tools, AI-assisted creative workflows, and innovative ways to make the design process more efficient, expressive, and effective.
