The successful candidate will support the delivery of fire protection, fire and gas detection, loss prevention and process safety engineering activities across a range of energy and industrial projects.\nThis position is based in our Madrid office and offers a hybrid working arrangement.\n#LI-Hybrid\nThe Role\nAs a Senior Technical Safety Engineer, you will be responsible for the effective delivery of technical safety and loss prevention activities throughout the project lifecycle.\nYou will prepare and review key technical safety deliverables, perform design calculations and safety studies, participate in or facilitate process hazard analysis workshops, and review vendor documentation. Depending on the project, you may also act as Lead Technical Safety Engineer and coordinate the activities of other engineers.\nThe role requires close collaboration with Process, Mechanical, Piping, Instrumentation and Control, Civil and Layout disciplines, as well as with clients, licensors, vendors and third-party specialists.\nOur Clients and Projects\nDesigning the future. most critical challenges requires different perspectives, experience and capabilities.\nEssential Qualifications and Experience\nBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering or another relevant engineering discipline.\nAt least ten years of engineering experience in the oil and gas, refining, petrochemical or energy transition sectors.\nAt least five years of experience in Technical Safety, Process Safety or Loss Prevention engineering.\nProven experience in the execution of oil and gas, refining or petrochemical projects.\nSound knowledge of fire protection, fire and gas detection, loss prevention and process safety engineering principles.\nExperience in the preparation and review of technical safety deliverables, design calculations, specifications, data sheets and study reports.\nExperience in participating in Process Hazard Analysis studies, including HAZID, HAZOP, SIL assessment and LOPA.\nExperience in facilitating HAZID, HAZOP or SIL assessment workshops.\nWorking knowledge of relevant international codes, standards and recommended practices, such as NFPA, API, ISO, IEC and EN standards.\nFamiliarity with technical safety software such as PIPENET, PHAST, PHAWorks, FLARESIM, or equivalent tools.\nAbility to manage several activities and priorities simultaneously while maintaining the required level of technical quality.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.\nSelf-motivated, well organised, resourceful and proactive.\nEffective communication and coordination skills, with the ability to work in multidisciplinary and international project teams.\nExcellent written and spoken Spanish and English.\nA valid permit to live and work in Spain.\nDesirable Qualifications and Experience\nPostgraduate qualification in process safety, fire protection, fire and gas systems, risk assessment or a related field.\nRecognised professional certification or formal training in areas such as: HAZOP facilitation.\nFunctional safety.\nFire protection engineering.\nNFPA standards.\nQuantitative risk assessment.\n\nExperience with firewater hydraulic modelling and consequence modelling software.\nExperience in energy transition technologies, including: Green hydrogen, green ammonia, Green methanol.\nSustainable aviation fuels (SAF).\nBio-refineries.\nCarbon capture, utilisation and storage.\n\nExperience working on EPC, FEED, conceptual design or PMC/Owner’s Engineer assignments.\nExperience coordinating small engineering teams or acting as Lead Technical Safety Engineer.\nExperience working on international
