This position reports to the Sr. Project Manager. You will lead the planning and execution of complex construction projects, ensuring alignment with contract requirements, schedules, and quality standards. As the primary point of contact for clients and contractors, this role manages project risks, monitors performance, drives issue resolution, and oversees documentation while coordinating across engineering, inspection, and internal teams. The position also provides mentorship to junior staff and promotes consistency in project delivery practices.\nFurthermore, this position requires working knowledge of TxDOT Aviation and project delivery to them. This role will require assistance on refining the Woolpert delivery method to accommodate TxDOT. While the Construction Manager is not on assignment, it is expected that the individual will review plans and specifications for constructability to meet TxDOT requirements for delivery and on site inspection. This is a part-time, as-needed position.\nApplicants must already possess work authorization in the country the job is located.\nWhat You Will Do:\nOn-site Observation Responsibilities:Monitoring of daily construction activities, ensuring compliance with project plans, specifications, and contract requirements, and prepares non-conformance reports. \nReview of site operational safety protocols.\n\nDocumentation and Report Responsibilities:Prepares and maintains project records, including detailed daily progress reports and weekly construction progress summary reports.\nReview reports and records prepared by other Construction Managers.\nReview and approval of complex material submittals, including asphalt and concrete mix designs, RFIs, and change order tracking.\nPrepares and maintains as-built drawings.\nPrepares or reviews closeout documentation and assemble closeout reports for submittal.\n\nObservation and Material Testing:Coordinate Construction Inspectors/testers and field personnel to ensure proper project coverage and compliance verification.\nReview quality control and quality assurance testing documentation and interpret results for project compliance.\nIndependently conduct hands-on observations of Contractor’s work for conformance to project plans and specifications.\nPrepares and interprets Percent within Limits analyses for payment adjustments.\n\nProject Coordination:Lead execution of complex construction projects, ensuring successful delivery of scope, schedule, and quality objectives\nSupport delivery of construction projects by leading coordination efforts of field activities, schedules, and documentation.\nMonitor contractor performance and enforce contract requirements, including quality and schedule adherence\nReview and interpret construction documents, drawings, and specifications to support project understanding and execution.\nServe as primary point of contact for contractors and clients on project-related matters.\nReview and approve key project documentation, including schedules, pay estimates, and change orders.\nProvide mentorship and guidance to junior staff and support professional development.\nSupervise additional on-site support staff.\nLead project meetings, including progress, coordination, and issue resolution discussions.\nManage project risks by identifying potential issues and implementing mitigation strategies.\nCoordinate with engineering, design, and internal teams to support project execution.\nDrive consistency in project delivery processes and standards\nMaintain client relationships and communicate project status with stakeholders.\n\nQuantity Tracking:Complete and document field verification measurements of unit quantities installed.\nReview quantity measurement documentation prepared by others for accuracy.\nPrepare final pay estimates and quantity documentation.\n\n What You Will Bring:\n5 + years of relevant construction management experience, including experience with contract administration and pay estimate processes.\n10-Hour OSHA Construction Certificate or ability to obtain\nProfessional Engineer License or ACI Certification and/or NICET Level IV (Highway Construction Inspection).\nAbility to lead execution of complex, high-risk, or high-visibility projects independently\nAbility to identify, assess, and proactively mitigate project risks\nAdvanced knowledge of construction project delivery, including scope, schedule, budget, and contract administration\nStrong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and contract requirements\nStrong oral and written communication skills\nDeep knowledge of contractor means and methods, sequencing, and field operations\nThorough understanding of QA/QC processes and inspection practices\nKnowledge of applicable codes, safety regulations, and compliance requirements\nWorking knowledge of cost control, forecasting, and schedule management principles\nHave a working understand of the TxDOT Aviation practice and assist in developing the TxDOT group.\nPREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:\nSpecialized expertise in a specific construction sector (transportation, vertical, utilities, etc.)\nExperience managing multiple complex projects or large, multi-phase programs\nAdvanced proficiency with scheduling and cost control tools (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project)\nAdvanced proficiency with project management software (e.g., Procore)\nStrong negotiation and conflict resolution skills with contractors and stakeholders\nAbility to analyze schedule impacts and develop mitigation or recovery plans\n\nBenefits You Will Love\nCertified as a Great Place to Work, Woolpert is one of the fastest-growing architecture, engineering, and geospatial companies in the world.
