We’ve raised over $80m from leading investors, and we’re building one of the defining companies in legal AI - from our office in Edinburgh.\nWhy this role is different\nYou won’t be joining a big, process-heavy finance function. You’ll be one of the first Finance hires, working on a brand new, AI-native ERP system (Rillet) with the freedom to actually improve how things are done - not just keep the lights on.\nIf you want real exposure to the business, a seat close to the founders and leadership team, and the chance to shape processes rather than inherit them, this is that seat.\nThe Role\nAs Finance Assistant, you’ll own the day-to-day mechanics that keep Wordsmith’s finances running - cash, invoicing, collections, payables and expenses - and you’ll have the tools and the licence to automate as much of it as possible.\nWhat you'll do\nComplete daily cash reconciliation across our accounts\n\nSet up customer contracts in our ERP (Rillet) and issue invoices\n\nChase accounts receivable to keep debtor days down\n\nOwn all accounts payable activity, including uploading bills and creating payment runs\n\nHelp with month end balance sheet reconciliations\n\nHelp administer our travel and expense system\n\nPick up other finance tasks as they come up - in a small team, that’s part of the job\n\nWho you might be\nWe’re not looking for someone who wants a narrow, ticket-based role. You might be:\nNewly qualified, or qualified by experience, and ready to take real ownership from day one\n\n1-2 years post-qualified and looking for broader exposure than a larger finance function gives you\n\nSomeone who’s used to (or excited about) using modern tools and automation rather than doing everything by hand\n\nWhat matters most is being highly motivated and genuinely keen to get stuck in quickly - we’ll help you grow into the rest.\nWhat we're looking for\nNewly qualified, 1-2 years PQE, or qualified by experience\n\nComfortable owning process end-to-end - cash, invoicing, AR, AP and expenses\n\nHappy working in-office five days a week in central Edinburgh\n\nCurious about tech and automation, and keen to use it to improve how finance runs\n\nHighly organised, with the judgement to know when something needs chasing\n\nHow we work\nThis role is on-site five days a week, from our office in central Edinburgh - a short walk from both Waverley and Haymarket.
