Backed by $100M from Index Ventures, General Catalyst, Highland Europe, and others, we are building one of the defining companies in legal AI.\nThe Role\nWe're building a GTM engineering function to own the systems, tooling and automation that drive Wordsmith's growth. You'll be its first hire.\nThis is a senior, hands-on, GTM engineering role reporting to the CMO. You'll work across the full GTM stack: marketing and sales tech, tooling and the systems behind our website. You'll decide what to build, buy or retire, and ship systems that help Marketing, Sales, Partnerships and post sales functions (e.g., Customer Success, Account Management) find, win and retain more customers.\nWhat You'll Do\nOwn the GTM stack and roadmap. Audit what we run across marketing, sales and the website, remove overlap. Own the tooling budget and vendor relationships.\n\nOwn the data model. Make our CRM the trusted source of truth for accounts, contacts and pipeline, with clear definitions for stages, sources and attribution that every GTM team works from.\n\nConnect the stack. Build reliable integrations across CRM, marketing automation, sales tools, the website, product usage data and enrichment through APIs, webhooks and reverse ETL.\n\nOwn the systems behind the website. Work with Marketing and Engineering on forms, routing, tracking, personalization and experimentation, so more of the traffic we earn turns into pipeline.\n\nBuild signal-based pipeline systems. Account scoring, enrichment, intent and product-usage signals, routing and follow-up, so reps spend their time on the accounts most likely to buy.\n\nBuild AI agents that do real GTM work. Account research, outreach prep, inbound qualification, meeting follow-up, renewal and expansion signals. Run them in shadow mode alongside the people who do that work today, evaluate the output, and decide where human review stays.\n\nMake the systems trustworthy. Test, monitor, document and version what you ship. Manage permissions and data governance to the standard our customers expect: we sell to legal teams, and our own data handling has to hold up to their scrutiny.\n\nRun the function like a product. Set up intake and a shared backlog with GTM leaders, prioritize by commercial impact, ship on a regular cadence, and show what changed.\n\nWhat We're Looking For\n5+ years building GTM systems at a B2B software company, through GTM engineering, growth engineering, technical marketing ops, RevOps or software engineering.\n\nYou build, not just administer. You write production-quality Python or JavaScript and SQL, work comfortably with APIs and webhooks, and use AI coding tools as part of how you work.\n\nDeep knowledge of CRM, marketing automation and sales tool data models, Experience running AI workflows or agents in production:\n\nCommercial judgment. You understand acquisition, conversion, retention and expansion, and can turn an ambiguous growth problem into a system that works.\n\nClear communication with non-technical teams. You can say no, explain tradeoffs and get people to adopt what you build.\n\nIt would also be great if you have:\nWebsite and front-end work: forms, tracking, personalization and experimentation.\n\nData warehouse, transformation and reverse ETL experience.\n\nTurning product usage data into routing, scoring and lifecycle triggers.\n\nSupporting several motions at once, such as enterprise sales, ABM, partnerships and expansion.\n\nSecurity and compliance work (SOC 2, GDPR) in GTM systems\n\nHow We'll Measure Success\nGrowth impact of what you ship: website conversion, speed to lead, pipeline and expansion\n\nManual GTM work removed, and adoption of the systems you build\n\nData the business trusts: complete, accurate CRM records and one set of definitions across GTM\n\nReliability of key workflows, and tool spend measured against the value it delivers\n\nWhat You Can Expect\nOwnership of GTM systems, data and tooling across Wordsmith, as the founding member of GTM engineering\n\nDirect partnership with the CMO and close work with Sales, Customer Success, Product and Engineering leaders\n\nA real tooling budget and the mandate to rebuild what isn't working\n\nCompetitive salary and meaningful equity\n\nWhy Wordsmith?\nWe're growing quickly, winning new customers and expanding into larger accounts, and the systems behind that growth need to stay ahead of it.
