Workday is an American enterprise software company founded in 2005 by two PeopleSoft executives after Oracle's hostile takeover of their previous employer. It sells cloud applications for human capital management and financial management to large organisations, covering core human resources records, payroll, talent, workforce planning, general ledger accounting, procurement and planning in a single system with one data model and a common release schedule for every customer. Headquartered in Pleasanton and listed on Nasdaq, it competes principally with SAP and Oracle for large enterprise deployments and has embedded artificial intelligence agents across its applications.

About the Team

The GTM Enablement, Solution Portfolio team sits within Global Customer Operations Enablement and serves as the strategic enablement bridge between upstream product, solution, industry, and go-to-market priorities and the field-facing teams responsible for customer outcomes.

Our work is centered on field readiness, knowledge flow, scalable learning strategy, and measurable enablement impact. We design enablement approaches that help sellers, solution consultants, customer success teams, services, support, and partners understand what is changing, why it matters, how to position it, and how to apply it in customer conversations and delivery moments.

The team is evolving enablement through an AI-powered, predictable model that combines structured knowledge, self-service tools, digital learning, live interventions, and role-based reinforcement. Our goal is to ensure the right knowledge reaches the right role at the right moment, in a way that improves field confidence, adoption, consistency, and customer impact.

About the Role

As the Director, GTM Enablement, Solution Portfolio, you will lead the team responsible for architecting enablement strategies for Workday’s most strategic launches, industry motions, product lifecycle changes, and go-to-market priorities.

You will be accountable for translating upstream business strategy into scalable field enablement systems. You will determine what field teams need to know, how readiness should be sequenced, which learning and knowledge modalities are required, how expert knowledge should be structured, and how enablement impact should be measured.

You will lead a team of Solution Portfolio Leads and program owners who design enablement strategies across a complex portfolio of product and solution priorities. You will own the portfolio-level enablement roadmap, influence sequencing and prioritization, set standards for enablement design, and ensure strategic priorities are translated into role-based learning paths, AI-ready content structures, field-ready knowledge assets, and measurable readiness outcomes.

This role requires the ability to operate as both a strategic thought partner to senior leaders and an enablement architect for a global field readiness engine.

In This Role, You Will Be Responsible For

Enablement Strategy and Architecture

  • Set the multi-quarter GTM enablement strategy and roadmap for strategic product, solution, industry, and go-to-market priorities.

  • Architect role-based enablement strategies that define what each field audience needs to know, do, say, and apply across the customer lifecycle.

  • Design scalable enablement blueprints that include learning outcomes, audience segmentation, sequencing, modality recommendations, reinforcement plans, knowledge structures, and measurement approaches.

  • Translate upstream business, product, and go-to-market strategy into clear enablement plans that drive field readiness, confidence, adoption, and customer impact.

  • Determine when a strategic priority requires content only, digital learning, live enablement, leader-led reinforcement, certification, guided practice, AI companion support, or another enablement intervention.

Portfolio Leadership and Prioritization

  • Maintain a single, prioritized view of the GTM enablement portfolio and make trade-off recommendations when launches, industry moments, internal events, and field capacity compete for attention.

  • Serve as the strategic enablement intake leader for major launches and business shifts, ensuring priorities are curated, sequenced, and shaped into actionable enablement strategies.

  • Partner with peers across enablement to determine the right modality and delivery path for each priority, ensuring enablement investments are matched to field readiness needs.

  • Identify portfolio-level risks, dependencies, readiness gaps, and adoption barriers, and provide clear recommendations to senior leaders.

Enablement Content and Knowledge Architecture

  • Set the standard for enablement content architecture, including consistent Bills of Materials, reusable knowledge components, source-of-truth structures, and global scalability.

  • Ensure expert knowledge is captured, organized, structured, and maintained in ways that field teams can easily consume and apply.

  • Drive AI readiness for the enablement portfolio by ensuring knowledge assets are structured, sourced, tagged, and maintained so AI companions can deliver accurate and trusted answers.

  • Establish standards for how field-ready knowledge should be created, governed, and refreshed across strategic launches and ongoing solution lifecycle moments.

Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Own the enablement operating rhythm that keeps Product, Marketing, Sales, Solution Consulting, Customer Success, Services, Support, and Partner Enablement aligned on field readiness outcomes.

  • Partner with Product and Marketing to understand upstream strategy, messaging, differentiation, roadmap shifts, and launch intent, then translate those inputs into enablement strategies for the field.

  • Partner with Sales, Solution Consulting, Customer Success, Services, Support, and Partner Enablement leaders to understand audience needs, role-specific readiness gaps, and adoption barriers.

  • Influence cross-functional stakeholders to move beyond launch milestones and align around what field teams need to learn, practice, apply, and reinforce.

Measurement and Impact

  • Establish measurement standards for field readiness, confidence, adoption, content quality, AI answer quality, and enablement impact.

  • Use data and field feedback to evaluate whether enablement strategies are improving readiness, increasing adoption, and helping teams execute priority motions.

  • Create executive-ready insights and recommendations that connect enablement investment to business priorities, field capacity, adoption risk, and customer impact.

  • Continuously improve the enablement portfolio based on measurement, feedback, AI performance, and evolving field needs.

People Leadership

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Solution Portfolio Leads and program owners who translate strategic priorities into field-ready enablement architecture.

  • Set clear expectations for enablement strategy quality, stakeholder partnership, executive communication, and measurable impact.

  • Build a high-performing team culture grounded in clarity, accountability, strategic thinking, inclusion, and continuous improvement.

  • Develop senior enablement talent capable of operating with ambiguity, influencing cross-functional partners, and architecting scalable field readiness strategies.

About You

Basic Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in field enablement, sales enablement, solution enablement, customer success enablement, learning strategy, GTM enablement, or a closely related enablement discipline.

  • 5+ years of people leadership experience, including leading senior individual contributors or enablement strategists.

Other Qualifications

  • Experience designing enablement architecture across multiple modalities, including digital learning, live enablement, guided practice, leader-led reinforcement, certification, self-service knowledge, and AI-assisted support.

  • Familiarity with AI-powered enablement, knowledge management, content operations, or retrieval-based knowledge experiences.

  • Strong understanding of how sellers, solution consultants, customer success teams, services teams, support teams, and partners consume and apply enablement.

  • Experience defining readiness, adoption, confidence, and enablement impact metrics.

  • Familiarity with Workday products, solutions, customer lifecycle motions, and field roles.

  • Proficiency in Google Workspace, including Sheets and Slides for portfolio reporting, readiness insights, and executive-level storytelling.

Our Approach to Flexible Work

With Flex Work, we’re combining the best of both worlds: in-person time and remote. Our approach enables our teams to deepen connections, maintain a strong community, and do their best work. We know that flexibility can take shape in many ways, so rather than a number of required days in-office each week, we simply spend at least half (50%) of our time each quarter in the office or in the field with our customers, prospects, and partners (depending on role). This means you'll have the freedom to create a flexible schedule that caters to your business, team, and personal needs, while being intentional to make the most of time spent together. Those in our remote "home office" roles also have the opportunity to come together in our offices for important moments that matter.

Pursuant to applicable Fair Chance law, Workday will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.

Workday is committed to providing reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals during our application process, in order to perform one or more essential functions of their job, as well as regarding the use of AI tools for employment decision-making to any degree. Please see below for more details including how to request an accommodation as a qualified veteran, due to a disability or for religious reasons, or as otherwise provided under applicable law.

Any employee who retaliates against a candidate or employee for doing so may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment, to the fullest extent allowable under applicable law.

If you require a reasonable accommodation, you may email [email protected], as far in advance as possible.
