WFP is building a political home for all of us who see bigotry, bailouts, and business as usual in our political system and ask, "Is that the best we can do?"

ABOUT THE FELLOWSHIP

The WFP Georgia Electoral Organizing Fellowship is a four-month, hands-on organizing program that develops new organizers while building the people power needed to win elections and grow the Working Families Party across Metro Atlanta.

This is a direct voter contact and volunteer organizing position. Fellows will talk with voters, recruit and develop volunteers, run canvasses and phone banks, support WFP-endorsed campaigns, and help build lasting WFP chapters. The work happens both behind a computer and in the field, including regular evenings and weekends.

We're especially interested in applicants deeply connected to Metro Atlanta communities, comfortable talking to new people, and excited about developing others into political leaders.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

    Voter Contact & Electoral Organizing

  • Run direct voter contact through door-to-door canvassing, phone banking, texting, relational organizing, and community events in support of WFP-endorsed candidates.
  • Plan and lead recurring canvasses, phone banks, and voter contact events, working toward weekly goals set with WFP staff.
  • Track conversations and follow-up accurately using WFP's organizing tools.
  • Volunteer Recruitment & Leadership Development

  • Recruit and re-engage volunteers through calls and one-on-one relational organizing.
  • Build and lead a core team of 15-20 active local volunteers, moving people along a path from participant to volunteer to team leader to WFP chapter leader.
  • Train volunteers to lead their own shifts and take ownership of organizing projects.
  • Campaign & Community Engagement

  • Serve as WFP's liaison to assigned campaigns, coordinating volunteer support and maintaining strong relationships with candidates and staff.
  • Build relationships with community organizations, labor and faith partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Represent WFP at coalition and community events, and help identify future WFP leaders and organizers.
  • Training & Accountability

  • Participate in required trainings, coaching, and check-ins with WFP staff.
  • Maintain accurate records and submit weekly timesheets and reports on time.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

By the end of the fellowship, successful fellows will have made significant direct voter contact, built a reliable 15-20 person volunteer team, developed emerging leaders, and strengthened WFP's organizing infrastructure across Metro Atlanta/ Georgia - leaving behind a stronger chapter than they found.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Deep ties to and current residence in Metro Atlanta.
  • Commitment to economic, racial, and social justice for working families.
  • Excitement about talking to voters, recruiting volunteers, and asking people to take action - including high-volume calling and in-person canvassing.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and comfort starting conversations with people you don't know, across race, class, age, and political experience.
  • Strong follow-through, time management, and record-keeping; ability to meet administrative deadlines.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including regular evenings and weekends.
  • Reliable access to a smartphone and computer with internet.
  • Willingness to learn organizing tools like Scale to Win, Mobilize, and VoteBuilder.
  • Prior canvassing, campaign, or grassroots organizing experience is a plus, as are existing Metro Atlanta community connections, meeting/training facilitation experience, bilingual skills, and personal experience with the issues facing working-class communities.

We don't expect you to know everything coming in - we're looking for people willing to learn, talk to people, make the ask, and follow through.
