As a Factory Planner, you'll be part of a cross-functional team whose mission is to lead IonQ on its journey to build the world's best quantum computers to solve the world's most complex problems.\nIn this role, you will own the production schedule that connects demand to the shop floor - translating forecast and firm demand into executable build plans, releasing and maintaining work orders in the ERP, and driving material availability so that manufacturing has the right parts, in the right quantity, at the right time.\nThis is a hands-on planning role in a high-mix, evolving manufacturing environment. Engineering changes are frequent, lead times are long, and the build plan shifts as priorities change. The ideal candidate is someone who is disciplined about data hygiene in the ERP, communicates clearly with production and procurement, and has the judgment to know which fires actually need putting out.\nResponsibilities:\nProduction Planning & Scheduling\nBuild and maintain the production schedule based on demand signals, capacity constraints, and material availability\nCreate, release, and close work orders in NetSuite; maintain accurate start dates, due dates, and quantities\nLevel-load the schedule against labor, tooling, and workcenter capacity; identify and escalate bottlenecks before they impact delivery\nSequence builds to balance on-time delivery against WIP, changeover, and resource efficiency\nMaterial Planning\nRun and action MRP output: release planned orders, reschedule in/out, and resolve exception messages\nPartner with Buyer Planners on shortages, expedites, and long-lead-time commitments\nMaintain planning parameters - lead times, safety stock, reorder points, lot sizing, planning time fences - and review them for accuracy on a regular cadence\nTrack and communicate a clear, prioritized shortage list to the production and procurement teams\nExecution & Cross-Functional Support\nLead or participate in daily production meetings; report schedule status, risks, and recovery plans\nWork with Manufacturing Engineering and Quality to resolve BOM, routing, and yield issues that affect the plan\nSupport engineering change implementation: assess inventory and WIP impact, plan cut-in points, and manage disposition of obsolete material\nCoordinate kitting and material staging with Warehouse/Stockroom to keep builds moving\nData Integrity & Continuous Improvement\nMaintain accurate item master, BOM, and routing data within the ERP; drive correction of errors at the source\nReconcile inventory discrepancies affecting plan accuracy and partner with Inventory Control on root cause\nReport on planning KPIs: schedule attainment, on-time delivery, inventory turns, shortage count, past-due work orders\nIdentify and implement process improvements; document workflows so the process survives turnover\nRequirements:\n3+ years of production planning, master scheduling, or materials planning experience in a manufacturing environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience\nBachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Industrial Engineering, Business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience\nWorking knowledge of MRP/ERP systems and the logic behind them (planned orders, pegging, exception messages, planning parameters)\nStrong Excel skills - pivot tables, lookups, and the ability to build a working analysis without waiting on a report request\nDemonstrated ability to read and interpret BOMs, routings, and engineering drawings\nClear written and verbal communication; comfortable pushing back on unrealistic requests with data\nPreferred Qualifications:\n\nExperience with NetSuite or a comparable Tier 1/Tier 2 ERP\nBackground in high-mix / low-volume, prototype-to-production, or new product introduction environments\nAPICS/ASCM certification (CPIM, CSCP) or active pursuit\nFamiliarity with lean manufacturing, kanban, or pull-based replenishment\nExperience supporting engineering change orders and revision-controlled builds\nWorking knowledge of business intelligence reporting tools\nThe total compensation package includes base, bonus, equity, and a range of benefit options found on our career site.\nIf this role has a commission structure, the compensation range below just reflects the base compensation range.\nWage Transparency:\n$72,000 - $108,000 USD\nCompensation will vary based on individual factors such as education, qualifications, and experience of the final candidate(s), specific office location, and calibration against relevant market data and internal team equity.
