We live by our values: \n\nWhakakotahi– we are united in a strong purpose \n\nKōrero mai– we engage meaningfully \n\nTiakina mai– we are entrusted with a duty of care \n\nAbout your team / Ko te tīma\n\nEnterprise Planning and Implementation is a new group established at WorkSafe to strengthen planning, coordination, and implementation across the organisation, particularly to improve how work is prioritised, sequenced, and supported through to delivery. \n\nThe Data, Analytics and AI team is at the heart of enabling data-driven decision-making across WorkSafe and is responsible for building and maintaining the data assets to meet WorkSafe's data, insights and intelligence needs. Working closely with analysts, architects, engineers, and business stakeholders, the team develops the data foundations that support reporting, analytics, and organisational performance.\n\nWe have a team culture that values the varied perspectives and skillsets that each team member brings – with respect as our central touchstone.\n\nAbout the role / Ō te tūranga\n\nAs our Data Engineer you'll play a key role in designing, building, and maintaining the data infrastructure that powers our organisation. Working closely with our Digital Information and Services team, you'll develop and support robust data pipelines, storage solutions, and data platforms that ensure information is reliable, accessible, and secure. You'll apply your technical expertise to enable the efficient flow and management of data, supporting reporting, analytics, and operational decision-making while helping to strengthen data quality, performance, and governance across the organisation.\n\nWhat You'll Do/ Ko tōu ake mahi \n\nDesign, build and maintain data infrastructure, including pipelines and storage solutions, to support reliable, secure and accessible data across the organisation.\n\nDevelop and optimise data pipelines for extraction, transformation and loading (ETL/ELT) to ensure efficient, scalable and reliable data processing and flow.\n\nEnsure data quality and integrity by implementation of validation, cleansing, reconciliation and error handling processes.\n\nMonitor and maintain data platforms to ensure performance, reliability, scalability, and operational stability of data systems.\n\nSupport data governance, security and access controls to protect sensitive information and meet regulatory requirements.\n\nWhat You'll Bring / Ko ngā pukenga ōu \n\nExperience working with data storage solutions such as data warehouses and/or data lakes, including cloud-based platforms\n\nDemonstrated experience developing and optimising ETL/ELT processes to support data availability, performance and reliability\n\nFamiliarity with government data standards, privacy frameworks and cloud platforms\n\nProficiency with data modelling and database management\n\nA commitment to public service and ethical data use\n\nExcellent communication and collaboration skills in cross functional teams\n\nDegree in computer science or a related field and extensive comparable knowledge and experience gained in a similar role\n\nExperience with Azure Synapse & Pyspark preferred\n\nNāu te rourou, nāku te rourou, ka ora ai te iwi. \n\nSalary range / Awhe utu\n\nAs part of our remuneration framework, the full annual salary range is $103,059-$135,004, with an expected appointment range of $103,059 - $113,707 (KiwiSaver/SSRSS employer contributions are additional).\n\nWe offer a range of benefits including:\n\n5 weeks annual leave\n\n15 days sick leave\n\nFlexible working arrangements\n\nA Reward and Recognition Framework that celebrates the impact our kaimahi make – your mahi matters\n\nProfessional development opportunities\n\nEmployee-led networks to promote the goals and needs of our diverse communities (Rainbow, Pacific, Women's and Tū Rangatira Māori Network)\n\nHow to apply / Me pēhea te tono \n\nClick Apply, and upload your CV and cover letter.\n\nAI can be a helpful tool when preparing your application, but what matters most to us is you.
