Working closely with architecture, security, data and delivery teams, you'll help create secure, scalable and reliable technology foundations that support critical business services and drive future innovation.\n\nAbout the role / Ō te tūranga\n\nThis is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in establishing and evolving WorkSafe's platform engineering capability. You'll design, build and improve cloud platforms, automation solutions and delivery pipelines that support digital, data, integration and AI-enabled services. Working closely with the Senior Platform Engineer, you'll help implement modern platform patterns while taking ownership of hands-on delivery, turning technical designs into scalable, reliable, and repeatable solutions.\n\nThrough automation, standardisation and reusable engineering patterns, you'll help improve reliability, efficiency and security across our technology environment.\n\nThis is an 18-month fixed-term opportunity. While our preference is for the successful candidate to be based in Wellington, we're open to considering candidates from any WorkSafe office location across New Zealand.\n\nWhat You'll Do/ Ko tōu ake mahi \n\nBuild the foundations that power WorkSafe's future technology landscape, designing and operating secure Azure platforms that enable digital services, data solutions, enterprise integrations and emerging AI capabilities\n\nDevelop Infrastructure as Code, deployment pipelines and engineering standards that make it easier for teams to deliver quality solutions consistently, securely and at scale\n\nStrengthen the resilience, security and performance of critical platforms through proactive monitoring, observability, recovery planning and continuous improvement\n\nCreate reusable platform components and self-service tools that make it easier for teams to deliver great outcomes\n\nChampion platform engineering and DevOps best practice, providing technical leadership, guidance and peer review to engineers and delivery teams\n\nIdentify opportunities to improve ways of working, reduce technical debt and increase automation, helping WorkSafe deliver sustainable and modern technology services\n\nContribute to the ongoing evolution of WorkSafe's cloud environment, ensuring platforms remain secure, reliable and ready to support future organisational needs\n\nWhat You'll Bring / Ko ngā pukenga ōu \n\nStrong cloud engineering and DevOps capability in modern environments\n\nExpertise in Infrastructure as Code using tools such as Bicep or Terraform\n\nDemonstrated success developing CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation and engineering practices that improve delivery outcomes at scale\n\nA solid understanding of Microsoft cloud architecture, security, networking and identity management principles, with a security-first mindset\n\nStrong relationship-building and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical stakeholders\n\nProven problem-solving skills in complex platform environments\n\nCloud, DevOps, platform engineering or security certifications would be advantageous but are not essential\n\nThis is a hands-on engineering role where you'll be responsible for designing, building, testing, deploying, documenting and supporting solutions throughout their operational lifecycle.
