This role is responsible for supporting the Director of Media Relations by facilitating World Relief’s earned media presence, supporting external-facing writing projects and conducting relevant research and outreach. They help obtain strategic exposure for World Relief and its programs through informing and responding to the media.\nPrimary responsibilities include staying attuned to organizational milestones, developing pitches, regularly interacting with members of the press, coordinating interviews and building a steady cadence of media placements. The Media Relations Coordinator is expected to remain updated on current events and news as they identify unique opportunities for World Relief within the news cycle.\nWork Location: Remote, preference for proximity to Washington, D.C\nTravel: 5-10%\nROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:\nStrategic Communications and Content Development\nSupport implementation of communications and media outreach plans that advance World Relief’s policy and organizational priorities.\n\nDraft and edit communications materials including press releases, talking points, media advisories, statements, spokesperson briefing materials, op-eds and reports.\n\nCollaborate with policy and technical experts to translate complex information into clear communications products.\n\nCollaborate with local and international offices to identify, communicate and disseminate program-related stories.\n\nMonitor policy developments and news trends and share opportunities with Advocacy team members.\n\nAssist with coordinating communications activities across internal stakeholders and external partners.\n\nMedia Relations\nSupport day-to-day media activities, including developing pitches, coordinating and scheduling interviews and maintaining press lists.\n\nHelp establish and maintain relationships with journalists, producers and media contacts across local, state and national outlets, as well as other influential content creators.\n\nAssist in preparing spokespeople for media opportunities by gathering background materials and coordinating logistics.\n\nMedia Monitoring and Reporting\nMonitor media coverage related to organizational priorities and policy issues.\n\nProduce regular media coverage summaries and reports.\n\nMaintain media tracking systems.\n\nCompile basic metrics and reporting to support evaluation of media outreach efforts.\n\nTrack communications deliverables and help coordinate workflows across the Earned Media team.\n\nJOB REQUIREMENTS:\nMature and personal Christian faith\n\nCommitted to the mission, vision, and values of World Relief\n\nDesire to serve and empower the Church to impact vulnerable communities\n\nAble to affirm and/or acknowledge World Reliefs Core Beliefs, Statement of Faith, Christian Identity and National Association of Evangelicals' For the Health of The Nation document\n\nUndergraduate degree or relevant experience in public relations, communications, marketing, journalism or a related field\n\n2+ years of relevant earned media experience\n\nPossesses strong research, interpersonal, writing and editing skills\n\nProfessional proficiency in MS Office suite and competency with media monitoring tools\n\nAdapts to change, meets deadlines and can manage competing priorities\n\nAbility and eagerness to engage across the political spectrum and to champion the organization’s nonpartisan approach to policy advocacy\n\nPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:\nLocated in Washington, D.C. preferred\n\nExperience managing earned media at a public relations agency, in political or advocacy campaigns or on Capitol Hill\n\nGOTV, fundraising or sales experience\n\nFamiliarity with policy, advocacy or public affairs contexts\n\nProfessional proficiency in spoken and written Spanish\n\nPersistent;
